Barbie Hsu passed away suddenly in February 2025 due to pneumonia complications after contracting the flu. It has been a year and a half since the actress passed away, but the dispute related to heritage has not yet ended.
Recently, information appeared that after Tu Hy Vien passed away, her husband, Koo Jun Yup (DJ Koo), was forced by the family of the late actress to sign a document agreeing to give up her inheritance rights, and was also asked to leave the luxury villa "Taipei Xinyi" in Taiwan (China), where he used to live with Tu Hy Vien.
This agreement is said to have been drafted by Xu Yajun's younger sister - Tu Hy De's husband (Tu Hy Vien's younger sister). According to sources, at that time DJ Koo was still immersed in the pain of losing his wife, and did not know Chinese, so he did not think much but signed a document giving up inheritance rights.
When asked about this rumor, Tu Hy Vien's mother neither admitted nor denied it, only replied briefly: "I don't know". Hua Nha Quan's side has taken action to deny the rumor, saying that this is fabricated and unfounded.
Hua Nha Quan said that after Tu Hy Vien passed away, DJ Koo was the one who proactively moved out to rent a house, and emphasized that the relationship between him and his mother-in-law Hoang Xuan Mai was still very close, often caring for each other.
He also hoped that the public would not continue to use baseless rumors to hurt family members who are trying to stabilize their lives.

However, on July 12, a source revealed that next week, DJ Koo will go through a lawyer to participate in a mediation session with a lawyer representing Tu Hy Vien's 2 children (with her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei), in order to win rights to 1/3 of Tu Hy Vien's inheritance that he inherits legally.
This information caused DJ Koo to be criticized, because after Barbie Hsu passed away, he publicly declared that he would give up the right to inherit the inheritance that belonged to him.
In an Instagram post at that time, DJ Koo wrote: "All assets are the achievements that Barbie Hsu has painstakingly built to protect the family she loves the most. I will give up all rights to that part of the assets and hand it over to my mother-in-law.
In an announcement on July 8, Uong Tieu Phi - Tu Hy Vien's ex-husband - also clarified that he had established a trust fund to manage 2/3 of the inheritance left by Tu Hy Vien for her 2 children.
Regarding 1/3 of the inheritance under DJ Koo's legal inheritance, Wang Xiaofei said that DJ Koo will decide on the handling according to his personal plan.
Currently, DJ Koo has not spoken out about information that he was forced to sign a document giving up inheritance rights, or participating in a lawsuit to inherit 1/3 of Tu Hy Vien's inheritance.
