On the afternoon of November 19, a meeting and exchange with Miss Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy took place in Hanoi. The meeting took place at Tien Phong newspaper, the home of the Miss Vietnam contest.
Miss Thanh Thuy shared her feelings when she was crowned Miss International 2024: “In the moment of coronation, I thought about the journey I had gone through, the support and encouragement I received from everyone. No matter the result, I am always proud of my achievements. But my emotions were even more sublime when I became the successor to the Miss International crown.
After 1 week of being crowned Miss International, I still feel happy and joyful when receiving love from everyone."
The beauty shared that she not only expressed Vietnamese identity and culture, but also expressed her personality and true self, and presented her personal views. She learned about Japanese culture, the culture of 75 countries brought by the contestants, and at the same time promoted the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international friends.
When asked about her carefree and innocent image in real life, Thanh Thuy frankly replied: "I want to express myself so that people can see my true personality, without being constrained. I do not forget my mission and will continue to work and contribute. I believe that my true personality will make people around me love me more, and not because of that they will see me as different from the image of a beauty queen."
The 22-year-old beauty also recounted the question-and-answer session, when she received a question on the topic of education. Thanh Thuy revealed that she had prepared for the question-and-answer session many months in advance, because Miss International is an organization that attaches great importance to issues related to education, especially the criteria for sustainable development (SDGs).
The beauty queen said she only had 30 seconds to answer, so she tried to give the shortest, most concise answer possible.
Responding to the question of how Thanh Thuy's achievements will affect the organizing committee of the upcoming Miss Vietnam contest, Mr. Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper said: "The organizing committee and contestants cannot avoid the pressure when, before the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest, the reigning beauty queen has an international title.
However, I believe that Thanh Thuy's achievement is a motivation for the competition to have a better quality of contestants, and at the same time become an inspiring example for the younger generation."
Ms. Pham Kim Dung - CEO of Sen Vang Company - received a question about the frequent beauty pageants held in Vietnam. The "beauty queen" expressed her opinion: "When the country has problems with natural disasters and difficulties, beauty queens and runners-up are a force that joins forces with young people and students to help and support the people. Beauty queens and runners-up can inspire and promote volunteer movements in Vietnam.
What is important is how we use the image of beauty queens and runners-up, choosing beauties who are qualified, compassionate, and passionate about social activities. Therefore, if there are more beauty queens and runners-up who do meaningful things and create good values, that is a good thing. Every time the name of Vietnam resounds in the international arena, it is an opportunity to promote and communicate about the people, country, and culture of Vietnam."
Sharing about the cost of investing and training beauties like Thanh Thuy to compete internationally, Ms. Pham Kim Dung said: “Training contestants to compete internationally is like the process of parents taking care of their children, it is priceless. We try to forget the numbers, not convert them into money because some beauties are successful in the international arena but some are not. Your achievements and efforts are the answer to the whole process.”
