Recently, a film scene made 20 years ago in the hit Korean drama "Princess Hours" (English title: Princess hours) has spread on social media platforms.
In this scene, the two main characters, Crown Prince Lee Shin (played by Joo Ji Hoon) and Crown Princess Phi Shin Chae Kyung (played by Yoon Eun Hye) passionately kissed each other right in the crowded Myeongdong neighborhood in Seoul, while passersby around were extremely surprised.
At that time, the couple's kissing scene became a classic moment of the film, because this was the stage when their relationship began to clearly change from "unwilling husband and wife" to truly falling in love.
However, what makes the film scene more special is also the way the director and production crew created it.
According to sources, the production crew secretly installed hidden cameras around the crowded shopping area and deliberately did not notify the public that filming activities were taking place.
The purpose is to record the honest reaction of the people when they suddenly witnessed two famous stars kissing publicly in the street.

This strategy was finally more successful than expected. The crowd quickly gathered around the two actors, many people even took out their phones and cameras to record because they really believed that Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon were dating in real life.
Some witnesses even immediately posted those photos online, causing dating rumors between the two stars to spread throughout Korea.
Only when "The Imperial Palace" officially aired in early 2006, did audiences realize that the "public kiss" was actually a scene for the movie.
Recently, "Imperial Palace" has also received renewed attention as the work is being compared with the new movie "Perfect crown" starring Byeon Woo Seok and IU.

Both films are set in fictional South Korea under a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century.
The film's script also has many similarities, because it revolves around a marriage relationship without love from both sides at first, between a prince and a commoner girl, then gradually developing feelings over time of contact.
However, many viewers believe that "Royal Palace" is better scripted, balancing the royal element and the everyday emotional story. Meanwhile, "Perfect crown" is considered to be too focused on images, not exploiting enough psychological depth of the characters.
The interaction between IU and Byeon Woo Seok is also considered inconsistent, without good chemical reactions like Joo Ji Hoon and Yoon Eun Hye. After two decades, "Royal Palace" is still considered one of the most classic romantic dramas in Korea.
In addition, "Perfect crown" is facing a strong wave of boycotts due to historical and cultural distortions.
As of the afternoon of May 25, the petition of Korean audiences requesting to stop broadcasting and remove the movie "Perfect crown" on platforms has recorded more than 42,000 signatures after 3 days. If enough 50,000 signatures of people are collected before June 21, the petition will be transferred to the Standing Committee of the Korean National Assembly for consideration.
Therefore, this work is facing the risk of being removed on platforms and will not be re-broadcast, even though all 12 episodes have been broadcast since May 16.
