Recently, an online exchange with two actors Manh Cuong and Thanh Hue at the Academy of Journalism and Communication attracted many people who love the Vietnamese film "Doc Dao".
In the movie “Doc Dao”, actor Manh Cuong plays Dung Kinh – a villain with LGBT colors. Not only is he a dangerous gangster with a sleek appearance, he also scores points with his inner depth and complex psychological conflicts.
Sharing about the process of accepting the role, actor Manh Cuong said: "When I was assigned the role of Dung Kinh, I was both excited and worried. This is the first time I have transformed into a character from the LGBT community.
The most difficult thing is not to fall into exaggeration or stereotype, but to portray the character's own soul. Dung Kinh is not only dangerous, but also has love, pain and inner turmoil."
To prepare for this role, actor Manh Cuong spent weeks researching documents, watching movies and consulting with people in the community to better understand the character's life and emotions. At the same time, he and his crew also paid special attention to the character's appearance.
"It took us 2 days to choose 100 suitable glasses for the character. Each pair of glasses has its own style, showing the elegance and luxury of Dung Kinh.
In addition, the scarf - the character's signature accessory - was also carefully searched by the crew. These details seem small but contribute greatly to highlighting the character," he added.
Talking about the most difficult scene, actor Manh Cuong remembers the scene where the character Dung Kinh was in pain after the death of his lover.
"It was an emotional scene. I had to find a way to express deep pain without making it sentimental. That pain is an emptiness, a great psychological shock. I spent a lot of time getting into character and conveying this emotion in the most authentic way," the actor recalled.
Starting his acting career in 2014, actor Manh Cuong was mainly assigned villain roles. He saw this as an opportunity to challenge himself and constantly develop.
"Each villain role has its own color, and I always try to make each character unique. The role of Dung Kinh in "Doc Dao" is a big turning point, helping me prove that I can renew myself and transform into different types of roles," Manh Cuong shared.
The exchange session was successful, receiving many questions from movie-loving audiences. Actor Manh Cuong's sharing helped the audience better understand his journey participating in the popular TV series "Doc Dao" as well as bringing interesting and emotional stories about the acting profession.
