The producer apologizes for making many audiences who have always followed and loved the film worried about the issue of establishing worldview and historical accuracy.
The production team seriously received opinions pointing out many details that were considered historically incorrect, including the scene of the king wearing a 9-stringed jade crown in the coronation ceremony and the mandarins chanting "heavenly age".
Previously, in the scene of Lee An (Byeon Woo Seok) ascending the throne, viewers argued because the courtiers chanted "heavenly age" instead of "ten thousand years". But from the Joseon Dynasty to the Great Korean Empire, "ten thousand years" was used for the emperor, while "heavenly age" was only for the crown prince or subordinate vassals.
Audiences also discovered that the king wore a "nine-stringed crown" - a 9-stringed jade crown for the monarch under the emperor, instead of a "twelfth-stringed crown" - a 12-stringed jade crown for the emperor.
Meanwhile, "Perfect crown" is set in a fictional Korea in the 21st century operating under a constitutional monarchy, which is also the time when the Great Korean Empire once proclaimed itself an empire. Therefore, these details are considered inappropriate for the position of an independent nation.
The producer of "Perfect crown" admitted that historical errors "harmed South Korea's independent and self-reliant position".
This is a problem arising because we have not carefully considered the change of Joseon dynasty rituals in the historical flow," the producer explained.
The film crew said that because "Perfect crown" is both a romantic work and a fictional historical work, they did not carefully consider and carefully check the details.
The producer announced: "We accept criticism from the audience, and will edit the sound and subtitles of the related scenes as quickly as possible in later replays, VOD and online platforms.
Perfect crown" tells the love story between Sung Hee Joo (IU) - CEO of Castle Beauty, a wealthy female heir who has everything but is only a commoner; and Dai Quan Lee An (Byeon Woo Seok) - a prince who has to live quietly because fate does not allow him to succeed the throne.
