Korean media reported that tvN's Monday - Tuesday drama " Nice to not meet you" will be suspended for a week to improve the overall quality of the work.
The newly aired episode 8 recorded an average nationwide rating of 4.1%, and the highest was 5.1% in the Seoul urban area. Although still leading the rating in the same broadcast time frame, this number has not met the big expectations from the crew.
At the press conference on October 28, director Kim Ga Ram announced that the rating target of " Nice to not meet you" was 30% and she wanted to "create a new history for tvN". The main actress Lim Ji Yeon also responded, promising to film the MV if the film achieved a rating of 30%.
However, the film's achievements have continuously declined after it aired. The opening episode achieved a rating of 5.5%, but then gradually decreased to a low of 3.1% in episode 6. This week, the ratings of the new 2 episodes have improved, but they have not been able to surpass the ratings of episode 1.
The producer said that Ni Nice to Not Meet You will be temporarily suspended after episode 10 aired on December 2. On December 8-9, this time frame will be replaced by the program "tvN X TVING Short Drama Curation". Episode 11 will return on December 15.
Nice to Not Meet You is a romantic comedy revolving around the love-hatred relationship between Lim Hyun Jun (Lee Jung Jae) - an A-list actor who has lost himself, and Wi Jung Shin (Lim Ji Yeon) - a female political reporter who has won many awards, always pursuing justice but being transferred to the entertainment department.
The film caused controversy right from the introduction of the main cast, because the age gap was too large. Actor Lee Jung Jae was born in 1972, 18 years older than Lim Ji Yeon (born in 1990). The audience thinks that when the two stand next to each other, they look like father and daughter, not a couple.
Many other opinions commented that Lee Jung Jae was too " stiff" when he still accepted to act in a romantic film with a much younger actress, even though his appearance was no longer suitable.
