The film reminds us of Tran Thanh's Mai, which won Best Actress at the Oscar

On the morning of March 3 (Vietnam time), the 97th Oscar Awards took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (USA).

With 23 categories, the award honors outstanding films and film crews of the year. The event was hosted by comedian Conan O'Brien.

Director Sean Senior had an important victory with the Best Director award. In addition, "Anora" won 2 gold medals in the category of Outstanding Original Scenario and Outstanding Filmmaking.

3 gold statues along with the Best Actress award for Mikey Madion brought "Anora" to the highest award at the Oscar - Best Actress.

With a budget of only $6 million, Sean Senior has made an independent film that "scans" the Oscar awards ceremony.

When receiving the Best Drama award, the director shared: "I want to thank the Academy for recognizing an independent film. This film was made with the blood, sweat and tears of great artists."

"Anora" revolves around Anora (Mikey Madison), a street dancer in New York, and her love affair with Vanya ( Mark Eydelshteyn), the son of a tycoon.

They formed a relationship when Vanya paid Anora $15,000 to become a girlfriend for 1 week. When their love is passionate, they register their marriage and face fierce opposition from Vanya's family due to the difference in social status.

When released, "Anora" was commented to have some similarities, reminiscent of "Mai" by Tran Thanh, from the title of the film to the motif of girls at the bottom of society fighting against the whole world to get love. In the end, they realized quickly that with their status, they could not have the change they wanted.

If we compare it with the approach to the topic, "Anora" is more severe, more realistic, and more painful than Mai.
