On January 6, the 2025 Golden Ball award ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles (USA). The event gathered many famous stars and actors, directors, screenwriters, and film crews from all over the world.
In this year's award season, to increase diversity and fairness in award consideration, the organizing committee has made an important change by raising the number of nominations in each category to 6, instead of 5 as before.
In the drama category, "Squid Game 2" is a special favor because it was nominated right before it aired. However, the work could not win the Best Drama category, losing to the film "Shogun".
The drama category also recognized the superiority of "Shogun" with 4 awards for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
Actor Colin Farrell was named Best Actor in a Drama Series, while the Best Actress in a Drama Series award went to veteran star Jodie Foster.
In the film industry, the leading film nominated at the 2025 Golden Ball - "Emilia Perez" - won big with 4 awards, including important awards such as Best Film in the category of musical/comedy and Best International Film.
With the brilliant victory, "Emilia Perez" became the film with the most victories at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards.
The music/comedy category honors the roles of actor Sebastian Stan in "A Different Man" and actress Demi Moore in "The Substance". They were Best Actor/Best Actress, respectively.
In terms of movies, in the comedy/musical category, "Hacks" won the Best Comedy/Musical award.
This year, the film "Emilia Perez" starring Selena Gomez leads the nomination list with 10 nominations. The film is present in most important categories such as: Outstanding film in the comedy/musical category and Outstanding Director.
The film "The Brutalist" received 7 nominations, "Conclave" received 6 nominations. "Wicked" received 4 nominations, which are notable works in the comedy/musical category.
In the television category, "Squid Game" unexpectedly received a nomination for Outstanding Television Series before it aired.
"The Bear" is the TV series with the most nominations with 5 categories, followed by "Shogun" and "Only Murders in the Building" with 4 nominations.
