In an interview after the premiere of the movie No Other Choice in Italy, Son Ye Jin shared with international media that her first walk on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival made her excited, excited and overwhelmed.
I even shed a few tears, Son Ye Jin emotionally told the reporter.
No Other Choice marks Son Ye Jins return to the screen after a 3-year absence. Since marrying actor Hyun Bin in March 2022 and giving birth to her first child, Son Ye Jin has temporarily left the screen.
"No Other Choice" is also her first film in 7 years, since "The Negotiation" in 2018.
In the film, Son Ye Jin plays Miri - the wife of the male lead Man Soo (Lee Byung Hun), a housewife struggling to keep her family together after her husband lost his job.

This is her first collaboration with Park Chan Wook, a director she has long admired.
As an actress, I always dream of being called by director Park Chan Wook at least once, Son Ye Jin said. But when she received the invitation, she was still wondering when she should continue working after giving birth.
The actress shared: "I was worried about whether I could continue to create quality works after getting married and having children. That is why I feel extremely grateful and lucky to be in this film.
Son Ye Jin's character Miri was initially built as a supporting character. However, Miri's role increased after Son Ye Jin suggested that director Park Chan Wook make her presence more meaningful.
I told him, Please dont let me appear and then people ask me why Im there. He agreed and gradually expanded the story," Son Ye Jin confided.
For Son Ye Jin, the moment she took on this role was a coincidence but it was very reasonable: Before getting married, I played a mother and divorced women, but now I really understand what it feels like to be a mother.
That life experience is something I cannot help but mention. Now, I can act those emotions more realistically.
Although she has 24 years of acting experience, this is the first time Son Ye Jin has experienced it at a major international film festival. The 9-minute applause after the premiere of No Other Choice moved her a lot.
That was a moment that would never be repeated. Maybe one day I will return, but coming here with director Park Chan Wook and the colleagues I love for this film will only happen once. It was like a dream and moved my heart, Son Ye Jin shared.
Not only competing for the Golden lion award at the Venice Film Festival, the Korean Film Council recently selected "No Other Choice" for the Best International Film award at the 2025 Oscar.
