On April 30, these two Vietnamese films were officially shown in theaters (previously, both film crews had released early screenings to serve the audience).
"Flip side 8: Sunroof" had a good start. The film was released early from April 27, and by the afternoon of April 30, according to Box Office Vietnam, the revenue had reached about 68 billion VND.
Meanwhile, "Detective Kien: Ky an Khong Tan" achieved a revenue of over 60 billion VND after being shown early from the evening of April 25.
On April 30 alone - the official release date of these two projects, the number of tickets and revenue were very good. "Flip Side 8: Sun Hands" on April 30 earned about 21 billion VND, while "Detective Kien: Ky An Khong Tan" reached 12 billion VND.
This difference is partly due to Ly Hai's project having a higher screening fee - 4,200 screenings. While "Detective Kien: Ky an Khong Tan" had 3,100 screenings, 1,100 less than its competitors.
These two projects are predicted to easily reach the 100 billion VND mark in the near future.
The upcoming blockbuster "Thunderbolts" will be released in theaters from May 2, so during this April 30 holiday, two Vietnamese films will still be big at the box office.
Currently, "Flip Side 8" by Ly Hai received multi-dimensional feedback from the audience. Many people think that the film chooses a theme that is not new or too traditional: The story of children who want to pursue their own dreams but face opposition from parents for the reason of eating and drinking for money.
With "Detective Kien", Victor Vu returns to the spiritual detective film genre, which is his great passion. He tried to overcome himself by showing his steadfastness, taking action in production, directing the direction for the supporting cast as well as the tight script, with quite impressive lines. However, many viewers believe that the film is only at a level of roundabout, not too breakthrough.
Meanwhile, the film "geography: Sun in the dark" released a special edition on April 30. However, the film's revenue has not increased significantly. Currently, "The Geography" earns 165 billion VND, firmly consolidating its position as "the most popular Vietnamese war-themed film".
