After a long absence due to the scandal of using banned substances, actor Yoo Ah In suddenly appeared at the VIP premiere of the movie "Hope" in Seoul (Korea). This is the first time this actor has attended a film event since the scandal related to banned substances occurred.
The premiere gathered many famous artists such as Lee Jung Jae, Cha Tae Hyun, Jisoo and Rosé (BlackPink)... However, Yoo Ah In did not appear on the red carpet or photo area for the media. The actor chose a separate entrance, wearing black clothes, wearing a hat covering his face and only interacting with some colleagues and acquaintances inside the cinema.
Yoo Ah In's discreet appearance quickly attracted attention, especially when he was caught accompanying director Jang Jae Hyun - the person behind the success of the movie "Exhuma". This detail sparked speculation about the possibility of the actor participating in "Vampire", director Jang's new film project.
Previously, many sources said that Yoo Ah In was being considered for a role in "Vampire". However, the production side has repeatedly affirmed that the cast list has not been finalized and there is no official decision regarding Yoo Ah In's participation in the film. If confirmed, this will be a project marking the comeback of the actor born in 1986 after nearly three years of interruption.
Besides rumors about a new project, Yoo Ah In has also just ended more than a decade of attachment to the management company United Artists Agency (UAA). After that, he continued to have rumors of negotiating to join Galaxy Corporation - the management company of G-Dragon. However, the parties have not yet made an official announcement.
Yoo Ah In was once considered one of the leading actors of Korean cinema with many highly appreciated works. However, in 2023, the actor was investigated for illegally using medical anesthetics, including propofol. The investigation process then expanded with allegations of using other people's names to buy illegal sleeping pills and some other violations related to banned substances.
At the first-instance trial, Yoo Ah In was sentenced to one year in prison and arrested immediately in court. At the appellate trial, the court reduced the sentence to one year in prison but granted a suspended sentence of two years, along with a fine of 2 million won. After the Procuracy appealed, the Supreme Court upheld this ruling, officially closing the trial process.
During Yoo Ah In's trial, the films "The Match" and "Hi-Five", which were completed before the scandal broke out, were released after many delays.
