On September 4, the Department of Education of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province announced that it will implement teaching local education in the final three grades in the 2024-2025 school year according to new documents recently approved by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training issued decisions approving local educational materials for grades 5, 9 and 12 used in educational institutions in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on August 23 and 26.
In particular, the newly approved local education documents for grade 5 include 47 pages; grade 9 include 75 pages; grade 12 include 76 pages (excluding the cover), with content that helps cadres, teachers and students systematically understand the culture, traditional history; issues of geography, economy, career orientation; issues of politics - society, environment... of Ba Ria-Vung Tau according to the local education content prescribed in the 2018 General Education Program.
According to the Department of Education and Training, immediately after the approval decisions were made, the locality issued documents directing implementation throughout the province, applicable from the new school year 2024-2025.
For example, establishing training reporter groups; organizing training courses on local educational materials for grades 5, 9 and 12 across the province to help managers and teachers at educational institutions grasp the overview; using local educational materials to develop plans, applying methods and forms of teaching organization in an integrated direction.
Direct the Departments of Education and Training; high schools to develop and implement local education content education plans; ensure 35 periods/school year in grades 9 and 12; as well as assign appropriate teachers...
"This is the first year of implementing local education at these three levels according to newly approved documents, and on schedule. Thus, all local education documents at all levels in the area have been completed and included in the curriculum," said Mr. Nguyen Van Ba - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training.

These are basic or current issues about culture, history, geography, economy, society, environment, career guidance... of the locality that supplement the general compulsory education content unified throughout the country.
Thereby equipping students with knowledge about the place they live, fostering in them a love for their homeland, a sense of learning and applying what they have learned to contribute to solving the problems of their homeland.
In which, the local educational content at primary level is integrated with experiential activities. At secondary and high school levels, the educational content is equivalent to other subjects.
