Many opportunities
Mr. Hoang Hieu Huy is the owner of Tailored Accounts Company - a company that has been in the top in excellent business in Australia for many years" and is currently the Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese people in the capital Canberra.
In recent years, every time they return to their hometown of Ha Long, Quang Ninh, many parents often ask about studying independently in Australia with the biggest concerns being life and opportunities in Australia and especially costs. Therefore, he wants to share with parents who are looking for opportunities for their children to study abroad independently, from their own experiences.
Regarding life and opportunities, Mr. Harry Huy said that he has lived and worked in Canberra for 20 years. This is a peaceful, civilized, equal, highly educated city that welcomes immigrants.
2024 marks a pivotal year when the Vietnam Association of the Nations (CVAS) in Canberra was established with the desire to preserve Vietnamese traditions and culture in Australia.
Australia is an aging country, so this is not an opportunity for young people? The middle-aged and elderly in Australia are relatively well off, so what do they need when they retire? These are care services for life, culture, tourism, cuisine...
"If young people work hard, the opportunities are limitless. What about the challenge? During my college years, my husband and I often picked fruit for Australian farmers. Now I still keep the photo, looking at everyone like a shrimp because I have lost a few hectares because I pick fruit for hire. In addition, I do many other jobs. But that difficulty is not everything because I have money to cover my school expenses and I have money to buy tickets to visit my family" - Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese in the capital Canberra shared.
Studying abroad is not only for poor families
Regarding the issue that parents are most concerned about, according to Mr. Harry Hoang, children can cover daily living expenses, while parents also only need to pay for tuition.

According to Mr. Harry Hoang, through calculations, the total cost including accommodation, travel, insurance, and air tickets is about 26,000 Australian dollars (AUD)/year or 78,000 AUD/3 years.
The total income for an international student if working 24 hours/week during the term and 38 hours a week during the holiday is about 29,000 AUD/year or 89,000 AUD/3 years.
After paying taxes, in addition to hard income, children also have 12% social insurance and this amount, if they later return to Vietnam to live, withdraw enough money to start a business in the country.
In addition, there are some initial costs: procedures, visas, health insurance, with a total of about 4,000 AUDs.
Meanwhile, study abroad fees depend on the school and industry. According to information, studying IT at some schools in Australia, if you get a 20% scholarship (which is not too difficult), it will only take about 69,000 AUD in 3 years.
Thus, parents need to prepare about 62,000 AUDs for 3 school years, or about 20,7000 AUDs/year. The calculation of Vietnamese currency at the time when the AUD was as low as it is now is only around 1 billion VND.
For a well-off middle-income family in Vietnam, if one of the parents earns about 25 million VND/month, it is considered one of the two savings income.
