On September 8, information from the Nghe An Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) said that Dr., Distinguished Teacher Nguyen Van Khoa - Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training led a working delegation to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) to visit and encourage teacher Hoang Thi Hien - teacher of Phu Son Kindergarten, Nghia Hanh commune, Nghe An province.
At the hospital, the delegation visited and inquired about the health situation, shared the losses that Ms. Hien and her family are experiencing, and encouraged the female teacher to rest assured in treatment and strive to overcome the difficult period.
Through the working delegation, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Khac Than; Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai and Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Thai Van Thanh also sent gifts, visited and encouraged teacher Hoang Thi Hien.
Previously, at about 2 pm on August 28, at Tan Lam school point of Phu Son Kindergarten, a 2-year-old boy suddenly ran out onto the road.
Discovering the baby in danger when a truck was approaching, Ms. Hoang Thi Hien (born 1994) immediately ran after, hugged and put the baby in a safe position. The boy escaped, but Ms. Hien was run over both legs by the truck.
After the accident, Ms. Hien was taken to a medical facility in Tan Ky for first aid, then transferred to Hospital 115 Nghe An. Due to serious injuries, she was transferred to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and admitted to the hospital on the morning of August 29.
According to information from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, at the time of admission, Ms. Hien's two feet bled profusely; her right leg was complexly crushed, tendons and bones were severely damaged. Doctors performed emergency surgery, cutting off the crushed tissue, removing the foreign object and fitting the bone with the goal of maximally preserving the limb.
After about 10 days of treatment, the left leg was temporarily stable but the right leg continued to become necrotic. The patient was indicated for surgery to amputate the right calf and is expected to undergo many more surgeries and treatments.
Ms. Hien is a single mother, raising two young children, the older one is 7 years old and the younger one is 4 years old. The three mothers and children do not have their own houses and are living with their maternal grandparents. After she had an accident, relatives had to take turns quitting their jobs to go to Hanoi to take care of her, while the two young children were in the countryside with their grandparents.
Also on September 8, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh directly visited and encouraged Ms. Hoang Thi Hien at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.
On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh praised Ms. Hien's action, saying that this is a role model of courage, responsibility and love for students.
At the visit, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh said that Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son decided to award a Certificate of Merit from the Minister to teacher Hoang Thi Hien to recognize the student rescue action.
Previously, the school, local authorities, student families and many organizations and individuals also visited and supported Ms. Hien during the treatment process.
