University benchmark scores for 2026 will be announced before 5 pm on August 13. Before this time, information about expected scores in many major groups at universities in Ho Chi Minh City is attracting the attention of candidates.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry: Many majors around 22-25 points
According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, the distribution of high school graduation exam scores this year lower than in 2025 will directly affect the admission benchmark scores.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan said that, except for some majors in the health sector that may maintain relatively stable scores, most of the remaining major groups will tend to have a downward benchmark score.
For Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, many majors are forecast to have benchmark scores of about 22-25 points, such as: Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Automation Technology, Information Technology, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Law and E-commerce. The remaining majors can take a score of 17-21 points.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade: Many majors from 22-24.5 points
According to Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communication Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, the benchmark score according to the method of considering high school graduation exam scores in 2026 is forecast to be equivalent to last year.
The group of majors in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Security and the majors in Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, E-commerce, International Business, Business Administration are forecast to reach 22-24.5 points.
Law and Economic Law majors can get 22.5-23.5 points; English and Chinese languages are about 23.5-24 points; Tourism majors are about 22-23 points. Meanwhile, engineering majors are expected to fluctuate from 19-22 points.
University of Economics and Law: Expected benchmark score of 70-90 points on a scale of 100
According to MSc Cu Xuan Tien - Head of the Admissions and Student Affairs Department of the University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University-HCM), 2026 is the first year the school applies the integrated admission method on a scale of 100 points.
Due to the complete change in the scoring method, this year's benchmark score will be announced on a 100-point scale and cannot be directly compared with previous years.
According to Mr. Tien, the benchmark score will range from 70-90 points. International Business, International Economics, E-commerce, and Marketing majors continue to be in the group with high benchmark scores. In addition, new majors such as Digital Economy, Accounting and Data Analysis, Law and Technology are also forecast to be highly competitive.
Viet Duc University: Some engineering majors may increase admission scores
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thien Thu - Deputy Head of Marketing and Admissions Department of Vietnam-Germany University (VGU), about 3,000 candidates have registered their aspirations for the school on the system of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Mr. Thu said that the benchmark scores for majors this year may not change much compared to 2025. However, for some majors with a very large number of interested candidates such as Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, the benchmark scores may be higher than last year.
