The academy only recruits male candidates.
This year's military school block uses 4 enrollment methods: direct admission and priority admission; considering the capacity assessment results of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University; considering the results of the QDA exam of the Ministry of National Defense; and considering high school graduation exam scores.

2026 is the first year the Ministry of National Defense organizes the QDA competency assessment exam. The exam takes place on June 19-21 with 6 sessions in three areas: the North chaired by the Military Technical Academy, the Central region at the Information Officer School (Khanh Hoa), the South at Army Officer School 2 (Dong Nai). The exam consists of three parts: Mathematics and data processing; Literature - Language; Science or English.
