The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) has announced the benchmark scores for specialized grade 10 in the 2026-2027 school year. Compared to the previous year, the benchmark score picture has a clear differentiation between schools.
At Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, most specialized subjects increased benchmark scores. The strongest increase was in Chemistry, from 30.25 to 36.5 points, an increase of 6.25 points. History increased by 4.75 points, from 27 to 31.75 points. Physics, Geography, English and Biology also increased by 2-3 points. Mathematics remained unchanged at 35.25 points.
A similar trend is happening at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. Chemistry has the strongest increase, from 32.5 to 38.5 points, an increase of 6 points. Physics increased by 3.5 points; History increased by 3.25 points; Geography increased by 3 points. The highest benchmark score in the whole city this year belongs to the Biology specialized class of this school with 39.25 points.
Conversely, at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (previously 2 specialized schools in Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau), many subjects recorded decreases in scores.
At Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, the specialized Math class decreased from 36.45 to 30.25 points, down 6.2 points. The subjects of English, Chemistry, Physics and Informatics also decreased from 1.8 to 2.45 points. However, some subjects increased such as Literature (up 3.35 points), Biology (up 3.275 points) and History (up 2.7 points).
The strongest fluctuation appeared at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted. The benchmark score for the Informatics specialized class decreased from 35.75 to 27 points, down to 8.75 points. The Math specialized class also decreased by 7.75 points, from 38.25 to 30.5 points. The subjects of English, Biology, Literature, Physics and Chemistry all decreased compared to the previous year.

This year, more than 11,000 candidates registered to take the exam at specialized schools. Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted has 5,738 registered aspirations for 805 quotas, equivalent to a competition ratio of about 1/7. Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted has a competition ratio of 1/4.8 (2,521 registered candidates, 525 quotas), Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted is about 1/3.3 (1,526 candidates, 455 quotas) and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted is about 1/2.5 (1,325 candidates, 525 quotas).
Candidates must take 3 compulsory exam subjects including: Literature, Mathematics, English and one specialized subject according to their registered aspirations.
The admission score for specialized classes is the total score of 3 subjects Literature, Mathematics, English (coefficient 1) and the score of specialized subject (coefficient 2).
According to the enrollment plan, only candidates who take all the prescribed exams, do not violate the regulations and all exams achieve scores greater than 2 are eligible to participate in admission consideration.
If they are not admitted or do not enroll in a specialized school (including the High School for the Gifted under Ho Chi Minh City National University), secondary school graduates in Ho Chi Minh City are still allowed to participate in admission to 10th grade usually according to 3 registered aspirations.
