The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year takes place in two days 1-2. 6. Candidates take three compulsory subjects including Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language; in cases of registering for specialized or integrated classes, they will take additional subjects accordingly.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 169,000 secondary school graduates. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training sets a target of enrolling about 180,000 students into public 10th grade, equivalent to about 70% of students completing the secondary school program, and the rest choose other directions such as private schools, continuing education or intermediate schools.
According to the plan, from April 22, students in Ho Chi Minh City will officially register their aspirations for 10th grade online.
After the 9 am mark on April 29, the system will lock and candidates cannot add or remove exam registrations.
Each student is allowed to register a maximum of 3 aspirations for public high schools (excluding specialized and integrated schools). Admission consideration is carried out in priority order from aspiration 1 to aspiration 3.
Students in other provinces and cities who need to register for the entrance exam to specialized schools in the city will submit applications to register for the exam at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.
It is expected that on May 4, the Department will announce the number of candidates registering for each high school. Based on this data, parents and students can adjust their aspirations until before 5 pm on May 8. The adjustment only applies to the order or choice of aspirations, without adding new ones or removing them from the exam list.
