The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) has announced the benchmark scores for enrollment in grade 10 of the mass system for the 2026-2027 school year. Statistics from benchmark score data show that the average benchmark score this year has increased significantly in most high schools.
Among the total of 170 schools announcing benchmark scores, there are 5 schools enrolling 10th grade for the first time, so there are no data to compare with the previous year. With 165 schools meeting the comparison conditions, 128 schools increased benchmark scores, accounting for 77.6%; 33 schools decreased scores and 4 schools remained unchanged.
Notably, the upward trend occurred in both the top group of schools and the group of schools with average admission scores.
In the leading group of schools, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School continued to have the highest benchmark score in the city with 24.75 points, an increase of 1.25 points compared to the previous year. Followed by Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School and University of Pedagogy Practice High School both achieved 24.5 points, increasing by 0.75 and 1.5 points respectively.
Schools in the group with high benchmark scores such as Bui Thi Xuan High School, Mac Dinh Chi, Tran Phu, Nguyen Huu Huan all recorded an increase of 0.75 to 2 points.
Notably, Gia Dinh High School has an increase of 4.75 points, from 18.75 points to 23.5 points. This increase brings the school back to the group with high benchmark scores in the city.
In addition, many schools recorded a sudden increase. Chau Thanh High School increased the most when the benchmark score increased from 9 points in 2025 to 18.5 points in 2026, an increase of up to 9.5 points. Next is Tran Van Quan High School increasing by 5.75 points, Nguyen Thi Dieu High School increasing by 5.25 points and Phu My High School increasing by 5 points.
In addition, a series of other schools also increased by 4 points or more such as Ngo Quyen High School, Nguyen Huu Tho, Gia Dinh, Hoang Hoa Tham, showing a significant change in the level of competition between schools.
Data analysis shows that most schools have an increase of 1-3 points. This is the group with the largest percentage of schools increasing points.

In the opposite direction, the number of schools decreasing benchmark scores is quite small. The school with the strongest decrease is Nguyen Hue High School (Phuoc Thanh commune) with a decrease of 5.7 points. Some other schools with significant decreases include Xuyen Moc High School down 3.25 points, Tay Son High School down 3.15 points, Thuong Tan High School down 2.95 points, Minh Dam High School down 2.5 points and Tan Binh High School down 2.3 points.
However, most schools reduced scores to below 2 points.
The widespread increase in benchmark scores is consistent with previous predictions when the exam questions were assessed to be somewhat easier than in previous years.
The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year is also the first year to be organized after Ho Chi Minh City expanded its administrative boundaries on the basis of merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces. Therefore, the number of public high schools and the scale of enrollment have both increased significantly compared to previous years, leading to many fluctuations in benchmark scores between regions.

According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, after announcing the benchmark scores, admitted candidates will confirm enrollment according to the prescribed time. Based on the actual number of enrolled students, the Department will consider organizing additional enrollment for schools that still lack quotas.
The supplementary admission consideration area applies to students who have participated in the 10th grade public school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year but have not been admitted to the registered aspirations.
