Regarding the incident of the Principal arbitrarily transferring schools without written instructions, causing a stir in public opinion, the Vinh Thuan District Party Committee (Kien Giang) has just announced the conclusion of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee on transferring the Town Secondary School, located in Vinh Dong 1 Ward, to the Vinh Thuan Town Primary and Secondary School (old) located in Vinh Phuoc 2 Ward, Vinh Thuan Town. Accordingly, on August 27, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee met to discuss and decide on many important matters, including considering the transfer of the Town Secondary School.
The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee unanimously assigned the District People's Committee to suspend Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Principal of the Town Secondary School, for arbitrarily moving the facilities of the Town Secondary School to the Vinh Thuan Town Primary and Secondary School (old) without the consent of the District People's Committee, causing negative public opinion among the people.
Urgently direct the inspection of responsibility for Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School and have specific conclusions. If there are any violations, handle them according to current regulations.
The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee requested to stop the transfer of the Town Secondary School (transfer of cadres, civil servants, teachers, employees, students and facilities) in Vinh Dong 1 ward, Vinh Thuan town to the Vinh Thuan Town Primary and Secondary School (old) in Vinh Phuoc 2 ward, Vinh Thuan town. In the 2024-2025 school year, Thi Tran Secondary School will open and teach and learn at Thi Tran Secondary School, located in Vinh Dong 1 Quarter, Vinh Thuan Town. The District People's Committee directed the Department of Education and Training and the leaders of Thi Tran Secondary School to urgently prepare conditions for cleaning, arranging classrooms and facilities, equipment, ensuring safety for students to study, serving the opening of the 2024-2025 school year at Thi Tran Secondary School.
As previously reported, on August 23, the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan district informed the press about the incident of the Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School transferring schools and equipping facilities.
In response to public opinion raising the issue of transferring facilities to the new school without official instructions from higher levels, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nguyen - Vice Chairman of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee - affirmed that the above reflection is correct, the district has not yet issued an official document.
Regarding the issue of the principal transferring facilities and equipment (from the school as mentioned above), Mr. Nguyen said that previously, the District Department of Education and Training had a draft plan to collect opinions on the transfer of facilities. As the press and public opinion reported, the district also informed that there was no document yet.
According to the district People's Committee, it was partly due to the principal's impatience to move the facilities to a new location so that students could be ready for the new school year and have adequate facilities for learning.
Previously, according to people's feedback, the school principal moved the facilities to another school without any notice or document, causing many parents to be confused because the new school year was approaching but they did not know which school their children would study at.
On August 19, 2024, the District People's Committee chaired a meeting to listen to the Department of Education and Training report on the school transfer.
On August 20, 2024, the leaders of the District People's Committee continued to direct the Department of Education and Training to inspect the implementation of transferring the facilities of Thi Tran Secondary School to the new location.
The district also explained that because the time to prepare for the new school year is approaching, the facilities of the Town Secondary School in Vinh Dong 1 residential area are seriously degraded, not ensuring the new school year 2024-2025, it is necessary to move the facilities to the Vinh Phuoc 2 residential area school (old Vinh Thuan Town Secondary and High School).
