Gia Lai plans to reduce nearly half of the number of schools after rearrangement

Gia Lai rearranges the preschool and general education systems throughout the province, expected to reduce 568 schools and 1,293 classes.

Gia Lai province currently has 1,283 public educational institutions, including 379 kindergartens, 405 primary schools, 298 secondary schools, 82 primary and secondary schools, 102 schools with the highest level of education being high school, 1 Hy Vong Quy Nhon Specialized School, 15 Vocational Education - Continuing Education Centers (GDNN-GDTX) and 1 GDTX Center.

According to the arrangement plan for preschool, general education, continuing education and vocational education-continuing education institutions in the province, Gia Lai will maintain stability with 1 continuing education center and 15 vocational education-continuing education centers.

For the preschool and general education systems, the whole province currently has 1,267 schools. After arrangement, the number of schools is expected to be 699, a decrease of 568 schools, equivalent to 44.83%.

Along with arranging schools, the Department of Education and Training will coordinate with the People's Committees of communes to review and adjust the scale of classrooms in areas with favorable conditions, ensuring facilities, teaching staff, classrooms, equipment and teaching organization capacity.

According to the plan, the expected class size is 36 students/class for primary school; from 48 students/class for secondary and high school levels.

The adjustment of the scale of classes is expected to reduce 1,293 classes, including 554 primary school classes, 580 secondary school classes and 159 high school classes, corresponding to a reduction of 2,066 teacher staff quotas.

Regarding organizational structure, each school after arrangement is arranged with principals and vice principals according to the scale of operation. The main school point has 1 principal and 1 vice principal; each school point or branch arranges 1 vice principal to directly manage to ensure that teaching and management activities are not interrupted.

For the teaching staff, the province basically maintains stability and arranges according to job positions, suitable to the class size of each school.

Administrative officials, personnel and contract workers are also basically kept stable. Libraries, experimental equipment, and medical positions continue to be arranged at the main school and branches to ensure the quality of teaching activities.

For redundant management officials, the province will arrange teaching if they meet the conditions, transfer them to agencies and units in need or resolve regimes and policies according to regulations. In case they are arranged to hold lower positions, they will have their current position allowance preserved.

For redundant employees, the arrangement, transfer or settlement of policies will be carried out according to regulations.

According to the roadmap, before August 10, the Department of Education and Training and the Commune People's Committee will complete the project to arrange directly affiliated educational institutions and submit it to competent authorities for consideration and decision.

Before August 20, complete the appraisal and promulgation of decisions on establishment, reorganization, merger, separation or dissolution of educational institutions; approve plans on personnel, finance, assets, records and organization of operations of units after arrangement.

Before August 30, complete the consolidation of the organizational structure, arrangement of staff, handover of finances, assets, records, seals and necessary conditions for educational institutions to operate stably in the 2026-2027 school year.

Before September 1st, the Department of Education and Training will advise the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Ministry of Education and Training on the implementation results according to regulations.
