Every day at school is a happy day
As one of the units implementing the "Happy School" model in Can Tho City, Ninh Kieu Secondary School - Tran Hung Dao branch focuses on reducing the pressure of achievement, preventing school violence and creating an environment for students to be listened to and shared.
Ms. Nguyen Le Thu Thuan (Deputy Principal of the school) said that the unit always considers scores important but not everything. Each student has different abilities and circumstances, so teachers try to help them improve according to their abilities, avoiding creating pressure by comparing students with each other.
In addition to reducing the pressure of achievement, the school focuses on preventing school violence through educating behavioral skills, conflict resolution, self-protection and awareness of respecting friends.

In particular, the Pink Age Club is being implemented to equip students with knowledge, self-defense skills, prevention of abuse, violence and support them in learning.
This is a bridge between families, schools and society in protecting and caring for students. The school hopes that when students encounter difficulties, they will know that they can turn to teachers to share and receive support," Ms. Thuan shared.
Phat Dat (student of Ninh Kieu Secondary School, Tran Hung Dao branch) expressed that every day at school is a happy day when he participates in interesting activities organized by the school, plays with friends and experiences interesting lessons.
Teachers always listen to our wishes; friends also respect, play and share with each other," Phat Dat said.
Teacher's happiness
Not only aimed at students, the happy school model also helps teachers feel respected, shared, and have more motivation to stick with the profession.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Truc Dao (teacher at Ninh Kieu Secondary School, Tran Hung Dao branch) said that the happy school model is practical when it helps teachers pay more attention to the emotions, skills and progress of each student, instead of just focusing on how many points they achieve.
When students feel safe and respected, they will be more open to teachers. The classroom atmosphere is also more cheerful and positive. From there, we also have more spirit and motivation to work," Ms. Dao said.

Similarly, at Hung Phu Elementary School - where the "happily school" model is being implemented, teacher Le Thuy Vy said that what makes her feel happy when attached to the profession is being loved by students, trusted by parents and colleagues willing to share.
When I see students love the school, love the class, love teachers and improve every day, I feel like I have chosen the right career that I love and want to stick with for a long time," Ms. Vy shared.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, before implementing the arrangement of educational institutions, the city had 16 schools officially participating in the Project "Pilot assessment and ranking of National-level Happy Schools in Vietnam".
Through implementation, schools have had positive changes in governance, culture of behavior, teaching methods and mental health care for students. Many practical models are maintained such as happiness classrooms, emotion corners and scales, school psychological counseling, socio-emotional education, STEM/STEAM, dialogue with students and the application of digital technology in management and teaching. This is an important initial result for the city to continue to improve and gradually replicate the model.
