On the morning of June 1st, more than 151,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City officially entered the Literature exam - the first exam of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year.
This is the largest scale exam in many years of the city, and also an important turning point for 9th grade students after completing the secondary school program.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), in the 2026-2027 school year, public high schools in the city are expected to enroll about 118,000 10th grade students. With more than 151,000 registered candidates, the admission rate to public schools reaches about 78%.
Although this year's enrollment rate is assessed as quite high, competitive pressure is still present, especially in top high schools, specialized classes and integrated programs. Many students not only aim to enter public schools but also aim for aspirations with high levels of competition.
This year's exam takes place in two days, January and February. 6. Candidates take three subjects including Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language. In which, Literature and Mathematics have a test time of 120 minutes, Foreign Language has a test time of 90 minutes.
Candidates registering for specialized or integrated classes will continue to take the corresponding subjects in the afternoon of June 2.
To serve the exam, Ho Chi Minh City arranged 242 exam sites, including 226 regular exam sites and 16 specialized exam sites, with a total of 6,443 exam rooms. More than 17,700 teachers, staff and officials were mobilized to participate in exam supervision and support the organization of the exam.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the stages of organization, invigilation, exam question security and ensuring security and safety at exam sites have been carefully prepared to create the most favorable conditions for candidates to participate in the exam.
