High School for the Gifted - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City said that the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year of the school has 4,707 registered candidates.
Meanwhile, the school's 10th grade enrollment quota is stable at 595 students. Thus, the average competition ratio is about 1/8, an increase compared to 1/6 in 2025.
When taking the exam, candidates must present their exam notification along with their ID card or personal papers with photos attached before entering the exam room. The exam council has the right not to allow candidates to take the exam if they do not bring enough documents as prescribed. In case of losing all personal papers, candidates need to bring the exam notification directly to the exam council room at the exam site for guidance.
In case there is more than 1 exam notification paper due to the emergence of many different registration dossiers, each candidate is only allowed to use 1 exam notification paper with the same registration number for all exam subjects.
A valid exam notification paper must have a photo of the candidate issued from the admission system. Candidates can use black and white prints.

The subjects of the exam are secondary school graduates, in the age of entering 10th grade according to the regulations in the Charter of secondary schools, high schools and general schools with multiple levels of education. The results of training and study for the whole year of secondary school grades are from good or higher.
An Dong campus (school location: 153 Nguyen Chi Thanh, An Dong ward, organized in the form of 2 sessions/day without semi-boarding) enrolls 245 students for 7 specialized classes: Mathematics (1 class), Informatics (1 class), Physics (1 class), Chemistry (1 class), Biology (1 class), English (1 class) and Literature (1 class).
Dong Hoa campus (schooling location: VNU-HCM Urban Area, organized in the form of 2 sessions/day with semi-boarding) enrolls 350 students for 10 specialized classes: Mathematics (2 classes), Informatics (1 class), Physics (1 class), Chemistry (1 class), Biology (1 class), English (2 classes) and Literature (2 classes).
Candidates are required to take at least 4 exams, including 3 non-specialized subject exams (Math, Literature and English) and 1 specialized subject exam chosen from the following subjects: Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.
Each candidate can register for a maximum of 2 specialized subjects.
In case of registering for 2 subjects, candidates need to choose 1 subject belonging to Group 1 and 1 subject belonging to Group 2 (candidates are not allowed to register for 2 specialized subjects belonging to the same group), specifically: Group 1: Math - Literature; Group 2: English - Physics - Chemistry - Biology - Informatics.
The non-specialized subject exam includes both essay and multiple-choice parts.
