High School for the Gifted, under Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM), is one of the specialized schools with great attraction in Ho Chi Minh City. Every year, the school's 10th grade entrance exam attracts a large number of candidates registering for the exam.
From 2018 to now, the number of registered candidates is maintained at a high level, the competition ratio fluctuates around the threshold of 1/4 to 1/6.
In which, 2024 and 2025 recorded the highest level of competition, respectively about 16.4 and 1/6. This means that on average, only 1 out of more than 6 candidates taking the exam is admitted.

In 2026, the High School for the Gifted will continue to enroll 595 students, equivalent to previous years. The exam is expected to take place on May 23 and 24.
Candidates must take at least 4 exams, including 3 non-specialized subjects (Math, Literature, English) and 1 elective specialized subject.
The admission score is calculated according to the formula: Math + Literature + English (non-specialized) + (specialized subject x2).
