According to a report by the Phu Tho Department of Education and Training, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026 - 2027 school year has 138 schools enrolling 1,083 classes, equivalent to 46,671 targets; 109 exam councils are expected to be organized.
The exam takes place from June 1st to June 3rd, 2026, in which June 3rd will organize specialized subject exams. Details are as follows:

Preparing for the exam, the Department of Education and Training has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue guiding documents; develop and announce exam structures and reference questions; organize training for enrollment software, and review candidate data.
Along with that, conditions on facilities and human resources were carefully prepared, with nearly 7,000 officials participating in the examination. The plan for setting exam questions, printing, copying, transporting and grading was built tightly, ensuring safety and confidentiality.
Speaking at the conference of the Steering Committee for 10th grade enrollment and high school graduation on April 29, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Hieu emphasized: The two exams take place in a close time, which is of particular importance, especially in the context of the first year of organization after the merger of administrative units with a large scale and large number of candidates.
Therefore, members of the Steering Committee need to uphold the spirit of responsibility, closely coordinate, fully prepare conditions on facilities and human resources, and ensure the organization of exams is serious, objective, fair and absolutely safe.
Previously, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 138/KH-UBND on organizing the 2026 high school graduation exam and considering graduation recognition for the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Accordingly, the exam aims to accurately assess students' learning outcomes according to the goals and requirements of the general education program.
The exam results are used to consider high school graduation recognition and serve as one of the bases for evaluating the quality of teaching and learning of general education institutions, continuing education institutions and the direction of educational management agencies.
In addition, the exam results are also used to provide data that is sufficiently reliable, truthful, and accurately assesses students' abilities for higher education and vocational education institutions to use in admissions in the spirit of autonomy.
