In an interview with Lao Dong Newspaper on July 30, Mr. Tran Thanh Binh - Director of Can Tho Department of Education and Training - said that from the shortcomings pointed out through the inspection, the Department of Education and Training urgently proposed that the Can Tho City People's Committee allocate enough civil servant staff to work at the Education and Training Departments; report to the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Home Affairs on the situation of the staff at the Education and Training Departments, public educational institutions in the area to have remedial solutions.
"Regarding the issue of lacking specialists in charge of preschool education, the Department has directed the Education and Training Departments to coordinate with the Internal Affairs Department to advise the district and city People's Committees to implement the secondment of officials in charge of preschool education from August; at the same time, register with the Department of Home Affairs for assessment to ensure sufficient personnel in charge of the education level," Mr. Binh said.
According to Mr. Binh, currently, Can Tho City, like other provinces and cities, is facing difficulties due to the lack of specific guidance documents from the competent authorities on organizing the bidding for printing and distributing local educational materials.
The Department of Education and Training continues to review directive documents, guidelines on implementing the 2018 General Education Program; implement regulations on selecting and using textbooks; compile and use local educational materials; review and inspect the implementation of regimes and policies for teachers and staff at educational institutions in the area.
In addition, the education sector continues to coordinate with the Can Tho City Inspectorate to develop an inspection plan according to the provisions of the 2022 Inspection Law. Especially, instruct units to seriously implement internal inspection work; carry out citizen reception, resolve complaints, denunciations, petitions, and reflections.
The Education and Training Departments, educational institutions, and the Can Tho City Continuing Education Center review and address shortcomings; strengthen the inspection of revenue and expenditure at affiliated educational institutions; direct, inspect, and implement regulations on transparency in the activities of educational institutions under the national education system; handle according to authority for affiliated educational institutions that do not comply with transparency regulations...
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Principal of Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted - said that recently, the Can Tho Department of Education and Training invited units with shortcomings and violations in the inspection conclusion to work and requested schools to develop a plan to address them. The school is currently urgently developing a plan to implement the remediation as soon as possible.
The Principal added that regarding violations in revenue and expenditure for the 2022-2023 school year, this issue involves the Parent-Teacher Association and the former Principal of the school (he only took office at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year). Therefore, during the implementation of the remediation, the school will invite the former Principal and the Parent-Teacher Association to discuss and orient the remediation according to the directives of the Department of Education and Training and the Ministry of Education and Training Inspectorate.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training Inspectorate publicly announced the inspection conclusion on the implementation of tasks for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years of the Can Tho Department of Education and Training.
