Due to the circulation of storm No. 3, Yen Bai continues to suffer heavy rains. Currently, the entire city of Yen Bai is under water, districts are at risk of serious landslides, schools have suffered great losses and continue to let students stay home.
According to a quick report from the Yen Bai Department of Education and Training, 9 schools were flooded. The Departments of Education and Training and school units in Yen Bai province have coordinated with local authorities and departments and organizations to assess the damage and come up with early solutions to ensure conditions for students to return to school.
The Yen Bai Department of Education and Training requires educational units located in areas at high risk of flooding, flash floods, landslides or that have not yet ensured safety conditions, to proactively let students, trainees, and university students take a day off on September 9-10 to prevent this.
Hai Phong Department of Education and Training has given students across the city a day off on September 10 so that schools can continue to deal with the aftermath of the storm.
During the time students are off school, educational units continue to focus on overcoming the consequences of the storm; traffic safety, electricity, water, and environmental sanitation.
Units mobilized local forces, advised and proposed coordinated forces to continue urgently cleaning up school landscapes, overcoming storm consequences, taking measures to prevent epidemics, ensuring cleanliness and safety when students return to school.
At the same time, the school urgently took inventory and counted the damage caused by the storm and reported it to the Department of Education and Training.
Schools are requested to repair facilities after the storm, prioritizing classroom repairs; proactively repair damage to facilities according to their authority (ensuring proper processes and procedures) to continue teaching and learning.
Public schools are not allowed to arbitrarily repair items with budgets exceeding their authority. During the implementation process, if any issues arise, please report them to the Department of Education and Training.
In Lang Son province , the Department of Education and Training noted that schools and school sites where students have to cross dangerous rivers, fast-flowing streams, or landslide-prone passes should continue to allow students to stay home.
In Lang Son city and districts (Trang Dinh, Van Lang, Binh Gia, Van Quan, Bac Son, Chi Lang, Huu Lung, Cao Loc, Loc Binh, Dinh Lap), rainfall is generally from 150 -300 mm/period, in some places over 400 mm/period.
To focus on responding and proactively overcoming the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Department of Education and Training requires units to proactively take measures to prevent flooding, develop plans to ensure the safety of school buildings; move machinery, teaching equipment, documents, and records to higher floors or move them to places without the risk of flooding to avoid damage.
Focus on mobilizing forces in schools, parents, and coordinating with local forces to overcome damage to facilities (especially small, easy-to-fix damages), clean classrooms, take measures to prevent epidemics, and ensure cleanliness and safety when students return to school.
In Hanoi , some schools also issued notices for students to stay home this morning. For example, at Van Dien Town Secondary School (Thanh Tri), the school issued a notice: "Due to the impact of storms and rain, today, September 10, 2024, all students in the school will be off school all day."
Or at Edison Primary and Secondary School (Hoai Duc), the principal announced that due to the complicated situation of rising water in Hanoi, the areas of Hoai Duc, An Khanh, My Dinh... were heavily flooded, all students at the school will be off school on September 10, 2024.
In My Duc district, heavy rain flooded many areas. To ensure absolute safety for students, some schools in the district decided to temporarily close.
