The Ministry of Education and Training has announced the Enrollment Regulations for training majors at the university level and preschool education majors at the college level in 2026 with many new points such as: Limiting each candidate to a maximum of 15 aspirations to reduce the virtual situation; The Pedagogy block is only allowed to register from aspirations 1-5; Tightening admission based on high school transcripts; IELTS certificate bonus points are also limited to a maximum of 1.5 points on a 30-point scale; each training institution from 2026 is only allowed to use a maximum of 5 admission methods...
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training - said that in addition to the new points mentioned above, this year's regulations have some technical adjustments to ensure that candidates meet the requirements for admission in the coming time.
These are basic adjustments to ensure objectivity, transparency, fairness and serve enrollment in the 2026 period onwards. We want to emphasize that the enrollment regulations for 2026 will be maintained stably for a long time to come" - Mr. Thao said.
Limiting the number of applications registered for admission is an issue that has received the attention of many candidates and parents.
Dinh Nguyen Bao Minh - a 12A5 student at Luong Son High School (Phu Tho) - said that 15 aspirations is an ideal number. This number is both enough to create a safe zone for candidates to reduce pressure, and just enough limits for candidates to seriously think, not to register rampantly.
Advice for candidates
Prof. Dr. Chu Duc Trinh - Rector of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi - advises candidates and their families to seriously find out information, determine their wishes and focus on the first aspirations. Mr. Trinh gives candidates 3 advices:
First, monitor the enrollment policies of the Ministry of Education and Training on official channels.
Second, monitor the enrollment plans of higher education institutions on their official website to ensure accuracy.
Third, refer to the results of previous years because the results of previous years changed little, only fluctuating 1-2 points.
Based on that information, candidates need to register smart aspirations, limit the number but still succeed. Students should divide aspirations into three blocks. The first block is dream aspirations, prioritizing choosing about 3 top training majors. The second block lists about 3 - 5 training programs suitable for their expected scores. The third block chooses 2 - 3 safe training majors, the benchmark score last year was lower than the expected score this year to ensure the ability to pass.
Experience shows that many candidates and families choose aspirations extremely intelligently and accurately. Many students when registering for the University of Technology often only write 3 aspirations but still pass. Thus, choosing aspirations is an initial challenge, intelligent selection will be effective, it is not necessary to register up to 50 aspirations if those aspirations are not suitable" - the Rector of the University of Technology analyzed.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Truong - Literature teacher, Phenikaa Inter-level School (Hanoi) - said that currently, general schools are focusing on implementing the plan of teaching and preparing for the high school graduation exam for final-grade students.
