According to the Traffic Police Department, in the past 24 hours, there were 31 traffic accidents nationwide, all occurring on roads. The accidents left 15 people dead and 25 injured.
Compared to the same period in 2025, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 14 cases (31.11%), the number of deaths decreased by 6 people (28.57%) and the number of injuries decreased by 8 people (24.24%).
Meanwhile, there were no traffic accidents on railways and waterways.
Hanoi traffic volume increases at gateways
In Hanoi and adjacent localities, in the afternoon of August 28, traffic volume increased sharply on many gateway routes, national highways and Noi Bai airport access roads.
Some routes such as Vo Chi Cong, Thang Long bridge, and the exit to National Highway 2 experienced slow vehicle movement due to traffic collisions and the impact of construction barriers. Traffic police forces organized traffic diversion and regulation.
On Ring Road 3, due to high traffic volume, vehicles moved slowly in the direction from Pham Hung to Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway. At about 11 pm, the traffic situation on the routes basically returned to normal.
On the morning of August 29, traffic in the inner city area and gateway routes were basically stable, without prolonged congestion.
On the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, the traffic flow is very large in both directions, especially in the direction from Hanoi to the provinces. Particularly, localized congestion occurred at some points, but was promptly diverted and regulated by the Traffic Police force.
Hanoi City Police have deployed maximum forces at intersections, proactively regulating according to the actual situation, prioritizing traffic diversion of vehicles leaving the city.
In Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent localities, the traffic volume on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressways is large but moving stably. National Highway 1 did not experience congestion.
Nearly 19,000 traffic violations detected
In 24 hours, the National Traffic Police force discovered 18,962 violations, made records and handled 15,649 cases.
Through the monitoring system, traffic police discovered 2,026 violations and made records of 239 cases. Through professional technical equipment, functional forces discovered 2,389 cases, made records of 680 cases.
The Traffic Police force in localities alone discovered 14,356 cases of road violations, made records and handled 14,129 cases. Functional forces temporarily seized 57 cars, 2,135 motorbikes and 262 other vehicles; revoked 252 driver's licenses and deducted points from 1,935 driver's licenses.
Among the violations handled, there were 1,766 cases of alcohol concentration violations, 3,439 cases of speeding, 87 cases of carrying overloaded goods, 140 cases of carrying more people than prescribed and 177 cases of using phones while driving vehicles.
In addition, functional forces discovered 12 cases of violations related to drugs.
On highways, road traffic police teams under the Traffic Police Department controlled 1,416 vehicles, detected and made records of 191 violations; revoked 1 driver's license, deducted points for 89 driver's licenses and sent violation notices for 636 cases.
Notably, functional forces made records of 9 cases of non-compliance with regulations on safe distance with cars running in front on the highway, including 7 passenger cars and 2 cars. These cases were fined a total of 45 million VND, temporarily seized 9 driver's licenses and deducted points from 9 driver's licenses.
On waterways, functional forces inspected, detected and made records of 126 violations. On railways, 49 violations were recorded and handled.
