Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge
One of the notable projects at the western gateway is Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge (Binh Tan District). This project has a total investment of more than 668 billion VND, and was restarted in June 2024 after a long period of stagnation due to land acquisition problems. Initially, the main bridge was expected to be completed and opened to traffic in December 2024, but so far the progress is still delayed.
The main reason for the delay is the failure to agree on the method of relocating the medium and low voltage grid and transformer stations at both ends of the bridge. Therefore, the completion date has been postponed to January 2025.
Ba Hom Bridge
Similarly, the Ba Hom Bridge project (Binh Tan District) started in 2018 with a total investment of about 374 billion VND, is also facing problems related to the relocation of the power system, affecting the completion plan by the end of this year.
Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road
In Tan Binh District, the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project also met the same fate. This is a key project to reduce the load on the gateway area of Tan Son Nhat Airport, where serious traffic jams often occur.
According to the original plan, the project would be completed by the end of 2024. However, problems with Package 13, which has 67 households and part of the area belonging to Textile Factory 7, have delayed the handover of the site.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Management Board, if the site is handed over as soon as possible (at least two months before the opening date), the entire project can be completed before February 28, 2025.
Expanding Duong Quang Ham Street
The Duong Quang Ham Street expansion project (Go Vap District) has also been delayed due to similar difficulties. The project has a total investment of more than VND2,000 billion, with the goal of upgrading the 2.5 km long, 32 m wide, 6-lane road.
However, the construction progress has encountered many difficulties because the handover of the site has been sporadic and unsynchronized. Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation has only received about 60% of the site and is facing difficulties in undergrounding the power cable lines. It is expected that the completion of undergrounding the power grid will last until April 2025 and will be completed in June 2025.
An Phu Interchange
One of the key projects in the east of the city, the An Phu traffic intersection project (Thu Duc City), also recorded slow disbursement progress.
The An Phu intersection project has a total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND. This project, when completed, is expected to contribute to reducing traffic congestion in the East of Ho Chi Minh City, but due to land issues, the construction progress has been affected.
According to plan, a branch of the HC1 underpass was expected to open to traffic by the end of this year, but because the workload has only reached nearly 70%, the completion time has been forced to be postponed to 2025.
The main reason is the problem with the land area at the approach road and overpass towards Luong Dinh Cua street, with an area of over 20,000m², belonging to the An Phu urban area project invested by Thu Thiem Investment Joint Stock Company.
Although the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has repeatedly requested Thu Duc City to hand over the site soon, the exact time has not yet been determined.
