On April 27, Mr. Cao Viet Hung - Deputy Director of Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction) informed that the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway will begin to be opened to traffic and put into operation at 11:30 am on April 29, 2026.
The exploitation of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway promptly adds a large road, serving increased travel demand and reducing traffic congestion during the holidays.
Operation and exploitation section from Km1050 + Km1138 - CT. 01. The starting point is adjacent to the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway at Km127+720; the ending point connects to the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway at Km1138. The length of the route put into operation is 88km; of which, the section through Quang Ngai is 60.3km long.
Interchange intersections operating and exploited include: Intersection at the beginning of the route Km1051+494, in Nghia Giang commune; Intersection of Provincial Road 624B (Km1069+200), in Dinh Cuong commune; Intersection of National Highway 24 (Km1084+320), in Nguyen Nghiem commune; Sa Huynh intersection (Km1099+820), in Khanh Cuong commune, all located in Quang Ngai province and Hoai Nhon intersection (Km1129+00), in Hoai Nhon ward (Gia Lai province).
The exploitation of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway currently does not collect tolls. On the route section, there is 1 toll station at Km1050+600 but it is a temporary toll station serving the closed toll collection for the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway.
During the operation, contractors continue to complete the remaining items of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway. These are investing in completing 3 eastern traffic tunnel pipes (left of the route), Duc Pho intersection (Km1092+640), rest stop system; smart traffic system, vehicle load control, automatic toll collection and additional people's service road items.
The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway started construction in early 2023, passing through Quang Ngai and Gia Lai, is one of 12 component projects of the North-South Expressway in the East phase 2021 - 2025. The expressway is 88 km long, with a total investment of about 20,400 billion VND, designed according to level 120 expressway standards, design speed of 120 km/h; the current phase operates 4 lanes, roadbed width of 17 m.
