EPC contractor consortium – key to ensuring the goal of early construction of Tu Lien bridge
Recently, Vingroup Corporation and Pacific Construction Group (CPCG) signed a memorandum of understanding on forming a consortium of contractors to participate in bidding under the EPC contract (design, supply of technological equipment and construction) for the Tu Lien bridge project.
The move came at the same time that Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that the city is also focusing on developing transport infrastructure with a plan to build 9 new bridges across the river, including Tu Lien Bridge. During the Hanoi People's Council meeting on December 11, the Chairman of Hanoi also set the time to build Tu Lien Bridge in the first half of 2025.
Thus, the cooperation between the two sides to form an EPC general contractor consortium is an important step towards starting the construction of Tu Lien Bridge on schedule, thereby contributing to reducing traffic pressure on existing bridges across the Red River, promoting economic development and urbanization for the Northeast region of the capital.
It is known that Vingroup and Pacific Construction Group are both "giants" in the field of urban development and infrastructure construction. In particular, Vingroup is the leading multi-industry private economic group in Vietnam, with its subsidiary Vinhomes managing and operating 30 urban areas across the country. Vingroup also has a lot of experience in constructing large-scale traffic infrastructure projects. A typical example is the elevated road project along Ring Road 2, from Vinh Tuy Bridge to Nga Tu So (Hanoi), with construction time exceeding 3 months compared to the plan.
Meanwhile, Pacific Construction Group is ranked 96th among the 500 largest enterprises in the world and 19th among the 500 largest enterprises in China. The group is currently operating about 3,000 industrial parks and urban projects in the country of a billion people.
Expected completion in more than 2 years
Tu Lien Bridge project is one of the key traffic projects of Hanoi City, included in the Transport Planning to 2030, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Phan Truong Thanh, Head of Planning and Finance Department, Hanoi Department of Transport, said that it is expected that after about 2 years of construction, the Tu Lien Bridge Project will be completed.
According to experts, the construction of Tu Lien Bridge will help reduce the load on existing bridges such as Chuong Duong, Long Bien, and Nhat Tan. When Tu Lien Bridge is completed and put into operation, it will shorten the distance from the future Dong Anh district to the center of Hanoi to only 5 minutes. In particular, this bridge will help effectively exploit the National Exhibition Center in the heart of Vinhomes Global Gate urban area, expected to be completed in July 2025.
The resonance of two national key projects not only changes the appearance of Dong Anh and upgrades its infrastructure, but also creates a strong driving force to expand Hanoi's development space to the Northeast, helping the capital soon realize its vision of a city on both sides of the Red River. At the same time, this will be a double driving force to increase the value of the real estate market in the region.
