On the afternoon of January 26, at Kenh Dao Hamlet, Long Vinh Commune, Duyen Hai District (Tra Vinh), we witnessed the tragic scene covering a small house of the family of Ms. Huynh Thi Trang (born in 1990), a female garment worker in Binh Duong Province.
In the sad scene, Mr. Le Quang Binh (born in 1984) - Ms. Trang's husband - confided that they have been married for more than 15 years and have a 13-year-old daughter. Due to the family's economic difficulties, they came to Binh Duong to work as workers since 2008.
Mr. Binh recounted that because his wife and he worked for different companies, his wife returned to her hometown first. On the afternoon of January 25, he received a fateful phone call informing him that his wife had died in a traffic accident on Rach Mieu Bridge (connecting Tien Giang - Ben Tre).
"The monthly income of the husband and wife is about 15-16 million VND. After deducting all the expenses for rent, food and the daughter's education, they still lack enough. Now that the wife has passed away, the cost of taking care of the daughter is even more difficult," said Mr. Binh.
Ms. Huynh Kim Oanh (name changed) - who lives near Ms. Trang's house - said that despite economic difficulties, Ms. Trang's family always lives with love and kindness towards everyone.
Mr. Co Van Tam - Head of the People's Committee of Kenh Dao Hamlet, Long Vinh Commune - said that Ms. Trang's family is in difficult circumstances, Ms. Trang's mother is over 50 years old and often sick.
According to Mr. Tam, around 2014, his family received 50 million VND from benefactors to build a level 4 house, so that the family could have a stable place to live.
"In the locality, Ms. Trang and her family always lived in harmony with the neighbors. Now that Ms. Trang is gone, the family is in even more difficulty because only Mr. Binh is left to take care of his daughter who is still in school age," Mr. Tam added.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on January 25, the Investigation Police Department of My Tho City Police (Tien Giang Province) was investigating a traffic accident that killed one person at Rach Mieu Bridge.
Accordingly, on the same morning, a passenger car bearing the words Kim Hoang with license plate 84B-005.xx, was traveling through Rach Mieu Bridge in the direction from Ben Tre Province to My Tho City (Tien Giang Province). While going down the slope of Rach Mieu Bridge (in My Tho City, Tien Giang Province), it collided with a motorbike driven by a woman. After the collision, the woman driving the motorbike died on the spot.
