Hanoi - Many cases of going on the sidewalk and going in the wrong direction on Tran Duy Hung Street were recorded by the Traffic Police to handle fines.

On the morning of May 21, the working group of the Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) organized a record of fines for violations when participating in traffic on Tran Duy Hung Street (Cau Giay District, Hanoi).

Accordingly, the Traffic Police force used mobile cameras to record images of people and vehicles violating violations such as going on the sidewalk, running red lights... to notify vehicle owners to the authorities to handle fines.

During more than 1 hour of duty, the working group of Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 recorded many violations.

Recorded on the same morning, during the process of recording violating traffic participants, the Traffic Police force also issued administrative fines for 3 cases for violations such as not wearing helmets and going in the wrong direction.

From January 1, when Decree 168/2024 takes effect, motorcyclists who run red lights, drive in the wrong direction, or walk on the sidewalk (except for those who walk on the sidewalk to get into a house or office) will be fined from 4 to 6 million VND.

In addition to the fine, the violator will also have 2 driving license points deducted.

This fine is 10 times higher than before, when the above acts in Decree 100/2019 were only fined 400,000-600,000 VND.

Speaking to Lao Dong on the morning of May 21, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Tien Dat - an officer of Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 said that since the implementation of Decree 168, the number of people violating the Law on Road Traffic Safety has decreased sharply, especially for car drivers.

However, there are still cases of motorcyclists and motorbikes violating violations such as running red lights, going in the wrong direction, violating alcohol concentration... causing insecurity for other road users and themselves.

To rectify this situation, in addition to propagating people to comply with the provisions of the law when participating in traffic, the authorities will continue to strengthen inspection, control and strictly handle violations.

"Handling violations according to the motto of no forbidden areas, no exceptions, thereby creating and forming a culture of civilized, modern and safe traffic participation" - Senior Lieutenant Dat said.

Although the fine is up to 6 million VND, according to Lao Dong's actual records on some inner-city routes in Hanoi, it is not difficult to see people despite violations with violations such as running red lights, going in the wrong direction...

These are some violations due to low awareness among people, formed by bad habits with many reasons such as convenience, familiarity, seeing others violating, so they also violate, causing disorder and traffic safety.
