According to the Department of Traffic Infrastructure Management, Department of Transport of Da Nang City, the area along Nhu Nguyet Street and Xuan Dieu Street has a low elevation, located right at the river mouth. The embankment and sidewalk area at the end of Nhu Nguyet Street is in a position to receive direct waves.
The high waves hit the embankment, railings, sidewalks and the strong water flow damaged the pavement tiles (the pavement structure was not designed to withstand this destructive force). During the recent storm, coinciding with the impact of high tides flooding Nhu Nguyet Street, combined with strong winds, very large waves from the storm, the water flow caused erosion, peeling off pavement tiles, bundling tree pots, and falling decorative lighting pillars.
Therefore, the Department of Transport has directed relevant units to concentrate human resources and equipment to clear the road and ensure the opening of Nhu Nguyet Street on the evening of October 27.
This unit is directly repairing the sidewalk of Nhu Nguyet street to ensure traffic, including piloting the solution of pouring concrete sidewalks (combined with creating colored bricks) to replace the existing sidewalk bricks in damaged locations caused by storms.
The Department of Transport is also coordinating with relevant sectors and units to research long-term solutions such as installing wave energy-reducing blocks, soft wave-breaking dykes, etc. to limit the impact of storms and big waves.
Regarding the scope of displacement of green tree bundles and falling lighting poles under the management of the Department of Construction, green tree and lighting management units are checking and handling the correction.
