The road surface is densely covered with potholes and craters
Bao Loc Pass is located on National Highway 20, a vital traffic route connecting Lam Dong with Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Southeast provinces.
Every day, the about 10km long pass has a large volume of vehicles passing through.
On the afternoon of September 3rd, reporters' records showed that many locations on Bao Loc Pass were peeling and damaged.
The section passing Km106, right in the top of the pass, about 200m long, appears densely "potholes", "buffalo pits".
According to people, for about half a month, prolonged heavy rain has made the road surface in this area increasingly degraded.
Many potholes and craters were widely broken by water and vehicles, forming deep holes in the middle of the lane, causing difficulties for vehicles to circulate.
This situation is especially dangerous when it rains, water covers the deep holes, making it difficult for motorcyclists to observe and easy to fall.
Mr. Tran Thanh Ha, owner of a stop at the top of Bao Loc pass, said that for more than half a month, almost every day people riding motorbikes have fallen due to potholes and craters.
There were nights when 5 motorcyclists fell. When it rained heavily and water covered the road surface, the risk was even higher. Fortunately, the cases we discovered were all with minor scratches," Mr. Ha said.
For heavy trucks, tractor-trailers, containers and passenger cars, traffic through damaged locations causes vehicles to shake and sway, posing a potential risk of unsafety.
Mr. Pham Thanh Tung, a container truck driver who regularly passes through Bao Loc Pass, said that the damaged road section right at the top of the pass makes vehicles sway and shake when passing, especially dangerous for large tonnage vehicles.
Will repair when the weather is favorable
Bao Loc Pass is currently undertaken by 886 Thanh Nam Construction Investment Company for maintenance and repair work.
Mr. Duong Nguyen Than, Head of Bao Loc Pass Road Management Department of 886 Thanh Nam Construction Investment Company, said that the unit has surveyed the damaged locations to develop a plan for patching and overcoming.
The section through the pass peak is seriously damaged. The unit has reported to the company to deploy maintenance and repair. However, the weather is often rainy, so construction cannot be carried out yet. When it is sunny, we will proceed with repairs immediately to ensure traffic safety," Mr. Than said.
Bao Loc Pass belongs to B'Lao ward and Dai Huoai 2 commune, Lam Dong province, with a length of about 10km with many winding curves.
This is an important road connecting Lam Dong with southern provinces and cities and has a large traffic volume.
Faced with the damaged and degraded road surface, it is necessary to soon repair and fix potholes and craters to limit the risk of accidents, especially in heavy rain and at night.
