Tan Long Intersection is the connection point between National Highway 3, National Highway 1B, Duong Tu Minh Street and Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway. This is an area with high traffic density, thousands of vehicles passing through every day, causing local congestion.
Faced with the above situation, the project to build, supplement the safety system and install traffic lights at Tan Long intersection was implemented with the goal of reducing traffic congestion. The project is invested by the Road Management Department.
The project scale includes repairing, installing traffic lights, cutting median strips on National Highway 1B and Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway to widen the road surface.
At the 4 corners of the intersection, 4 14m high floodlight poles are installed, each pole is equipped with 5 sets of 200W LED floodlights; during operation, based on the actual traffic volume at each time, the appropriate phase separation time will be set. The project is expected to be completed in December 2024.
The total investment for renovating Tan Long roundabout and replacing some light bulbs at intersections on Hanoi - Thai Nguyen highway is more than 5 billion VND.
According to the reporter's records on November 24, workers are installing lighting systems, signs, and widening the roadbed. The high density of vehicles makes the construction process difficult. Authorities must be present to direct traffic and ensure traffic safety.
Worker Nguyen Van Hoang (Thai Nguyen City) said that some items must be constructed at night to avoid congestion.
"During the day, we mainly work on lighting systems and signs. In the area inside the circular island, we often have to work at night due to the high traffic density. With the current progress, the project will be completed on schedule next December," said Mr. Hoang.
On November 24, speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Lam Anh Tuan - Chairman of Tan Long Ward People's Committee said that the project to build and renovate Tan Long intersection is being accelerated.
"Once completed, it is hoped that traffic congestion due to high volume of vehicles at the intersections leading to four major roads will be reduced," Mr. Tuan added.
Some images recorded at the project:
Previously, according to a survey by the authorities, the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway had 8 points that needed to be handled and fixed, mainly related to: the sign system; local damage to the roadbed and road surface; limited road width; congestion at Tan Long intersection...
From there, the Ministry of Public Security proposed the Ministry of Transport to overcome the above 8 limitations. Priority was given to handling the problems at Tan Long intersection such as: Traffic density of the 4 intersections at the roundabout is increasing, the road width is still limited, leading to traffic congestion.
