According to the reporter's records from 4:00 p.m. on September 3, the traffic started to increase on National Highway 1A (through Nuoc Ngam bus station) heading towards the city center.
The increasing number of vehicles caused a traffic jam of nearly 1km, mostly cars and motorbikes from Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam provinces... returning to the city after the holiday.
The hot weather made many people tired on the journey back to the city. "It took me 20 minutes to get through the Ngoc Hoi - Giai Phong intersection. Today the weather is also hot, the whole family is very tired" - said Mr. Le Van Sang (34 years old, from Ha Nam).
To limit congestion, traffic police teams have divided themselves up to stand at intersections, actively directing traffic and adjusting traffic lights to increase travel time for people to get to Hanoi most conveniently.
At the same time, on the Phap Van - Cau Gie highway, a line of cars more than 3km long was jammed towards the city center. Local congestion sometimes occurred due to the sudden increase in the number of vehicles.
Authorities must increase traffic flow and guidance to avoid congestion between straight and turning lanes leading to the Ring Road 3 intersection.
It is forecasted that from this afternoon to this evening (September 3), traffic will heat up at the southern gateway to Hanoi as people continue to return to the city after the National Day holiday.
The Traffic Police Department recommends that people should update traffic conditions on the roads before traveling to choose the appropriate route, and strictly comply with road traffic rules and instructions from authorities.
