The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Binh Duong province to give comments on the location of two toll stations on National Highway 13 (Binh Duong welcome gate area) and the road leading to Phu Long bridge (Thuan An city).
Regarding the toll station on National Highway 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport stated that National Highway 13 is an important route, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Binh Duong, where traffic volume is very high.
The proposed location of the toll station is only about 200 meters from the foot of Vinh Binh bridge, located in a section with a steep slope and traffic changes direction on a curve.
Therefore, the HCM City Department of Transport proposed that the People's Committee of Binh Duong province direct relevant units to conduct research on actual traffic volume to determine a suitable station location.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport proposed expanding the toll lane for cars from 3.5 m to 3.75 m, including the access road to the toll station, to help vehicles move more easily.
At the toll station on the Phu Long bridge approach road, the HCMC Department of Transport proposed calculating the traffic volume passing through the bridge to determine the appropriate location of the station. This is to avoid the situation of vehicles waiting to collect tolls congesting towards Phu Long bridge, the intersection of the approach road with Ha Huy Giap Street (District 12, HCMC) and the intersection of Provincial Road 745 and Binh Duong Boulevard.
The Department of Transport also proposed closing the opening of the road leading to Phu Long bridge (with traffic signals) near the toll station.
For both toll station locations, the HCMC Department of Transport emphasized that toll collection must ensure that the right subjects are collected and that there is no double toll collection on the same route, causing inconvenience to people and businesses.
At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport also suggested that Binh Duong province assess the impact of toll stations on the lives of people in the area and propose necessary support measures to minimize the possibility of complaints and lawsuits.
