On May 20, in Hanoi, Petrovietnam organized the announcement and awarding of the decision to appoint Mr. Le Manh Cuong as Member of the Member Council, General Director of Petrovietnam.
At the event, representatives of the Ministry of Finance announced the decision of the Minister of Finance on the appointment of Mr. Le Manh Cuong.
Following that, Member of Petrovietnam Member Council Bui Minh Tien announced Decision No. 3968 dated May 18, 2026 signed by Chairman of Petrovietnam Member Council Le Ngoc Son on the appointment of Mr. Le Manh Cuong to hold the position of Member of Member Council, General Director of Petrovietnam.
The term of appointment is 5 years from May 18, 2026.
Speaking to direct at the ceremony, Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan said that with the goal of economic growth for the whole year 2026 at double digits, the growth pressure for the remaining months of the year is very large. Therefore, an important solution associated with Petrovietnam's production and business activities is to increase mining, including oil and gas.
Therefore, Petrovietnam needs to review Petrovietnam's Development Strategy in the context of double-digit growth targets and the complex geopolitical situation in the world. On that basis, Petrovietnam needs to advise relevant levels to improve policies and institutions to achieve the set goals.
Petrovietnam needs to drastically direct and operate the production and business plan for 2026, complete the planned targets for revenue, profit, and pay to the State budget in 2026.
At the ceremony, Chairman of Petrovietnam's Member Council Le Ngoc Son said that in the past 5 months, Petrovietnam has maintained positive production and business, ensuring good national energy security, and completing important targets to ensure double-digit growth.
However, Petrovietnam also faces many major challenges such as input costs, broken supply chains, bottlenecks in gas and electricity consumption, risks in oil refining and petrochemical business, and inadequacies in mechanisms...
These obstacles require drastic and flexible management, while reflecting the urgency of perfecting institutions, mechanisms, policies, especially regulations on internal governance to meet the requirements of the new situation.
In this context, consolidating the position of General Director with Mr. Le Manh Cuong is of particular importance to help Petrovietnam supplement operating resources, ensure smooth management to successfully implement the goals of 2026 and the 2026-2030 period.
In his new position, the new General Director of Petrovietnam Le Manh Cuong pledged to make the highest efforts and solidarity to continue to promote the tradition, bravery and aspirations of Petrovietnam employees with the leadership of Petrovietnam.
