Bustling early sale of chrysanthemum mums
In the days leading up to the New Year, the atmosphere in Cho Lach flower village (Vinh Long province) becomes bustling, gardeners are busy taking care of, selecting and selling chrysanthemums early to meet market demand.
Mr. Tran Minh Hiep's flower garden with more than 2,000 chrysanthemum pots is always bustling, cars coming in and out continuously to prepare the first shipments to deliver to traders.
According to Mr. Hiep, part of the flowers bloomed early because customers had pre-ordered them, but there was also an area affected by unseasonal rain, causing the flower blooming time to be earlier than expected.
For chrysanthemums, the technical processing stage determines the time of flowering, just a deviation in adjusting water, lighting or fertilizer will make it difficult to keep them right for Tet Nguyen Dan.
Because some pots cannot bloom according to plan, gardeners are forced to sell early during the New Year to recover capital and limit risks of damage.

At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang, a gardener who grows about 2,500 pots of chrysanthemum mums, is also busy selecting pots that meet the requirements to deliver to customers who have placed pre-orders.
According to Mr. Sang, selling early helps the family quickly recover capital, reduce the pressure of care in the context of increasing fertilizer and labor costs, and erratic weather.
From a market perspective, traders said that the demand for ornamental flowers for the New Year holiday in tourist areas and offices is increasing, so they proactively purchase and mobilize vehicles to transport them to many provinces.
The chrysanthemum pots chosen usually have round shades, firm buds, uniform colors, ensuring durability when transported far away, meeting the decorative requirements in many different spaces.
Currently, Cho Lach chrysanthemums are purchased at a price of 160,000 to 170,000 VND per pair, a stable price, helping farmers feel secure in production and continue to invest in the main flower crop.
Consumption market is bustling during the Western New Year
From a purchasing perspective, Mr. Dang Van Mi - Long Thoi Agricultural Cooperative said that the demand for flower decorations for the New Year holiday in tourist areas and offices is quite large. Traders actively mobilize vehicles and manpower to transport flowers to other provinces.
According to Mr. Mi, despite complicated weather conditions, the quality of flowers still ensures durability and color. The selected pots often have round shades and firm buds, suitable for long-distance transportation.

Ms. Le Thi Hoa said that about 70% of the flowers sold this time are pre-ordered orders. The rest are early blooming flowers, purchased wholesale for distribution at flower markets.
Early sales help the New Year market become more vibrant. At the same time, farmers have more income to continue investing in taking care of the remaining flowers," Ms. Hoa added.
According to Mr. Tran Huu Nghi - Vice Chairman of Cho Lach Commune People's Committee, this year's New Year holiday, the locality estimates to sell about 100,000 pots of chrysanthemum mums to the markets of provinces, serving decorative needs.
Early consumption of this amount of flowers is considered a positive sign, helping gardeners have more rotating capital, reduce cost pressure and be more proactive in production in the last months of the year.
From early flower sales revenue, farmers continue to invest in care, growth monitoring and appropriate technical treatment, aiming to ensure the quality and quantity of flowers for the main crop of the upcoming Lunar New Year," Mr. Nghi added.
