On August 12, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam - Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee chaired the Conference to improve and enhance the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI).
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam said that after the process of arranging administrative units, Quang Ngai is facing new opportunities with a more open development space, and also sets higher requirements for management capacity and mobilization of resources for development.
Through the conference, delegates clearly realized that improving PCI is not only improving ranking but more importantly improving the quality of government administration and the quality of service to people and businesses.
The PCI results in 2025 have not reached expectations, but should be seen as a driving force for stronger innovation in management thinking, operating methods and the spirit and responsibility of public service performers at all levels.
In the coming time, the province is determined to create clear and substantial changes in management quality, strongly improve the provincial competitiveness index, and strive to bring Quang Ngai into the group of 20 leading provinces and cities in the country in the coming time.
To realize the above goal, the Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee requested departments, agencies, branches, and localities to review the difficulties and obstacles that businesses are facing, focus on handling issues within their scope and responsibilities, especially in terms of administrative procedures, land, planning, construction...
At the same time, promote the responsibility of the head, directly directing, inspecting and being responsible for resolving tasks related to enterprises in the field and area of responsibility; not allowing the situation of avoidance, pushing back or making enterprises have to wait and travel many times.
In 2025, the socio-economic situation of the province achieved many positive results. GRDP growth rate reached 10.02%; budget revenue reached more than 36,000 billion VND, which is the 5th consecutive year exceeding the central government's estimate. The Private Sector Performance Index (BPI) in 2025 of VCCI, Quang Ngai ranked 8th/34 provinces and cities directly under the Central Government.
In addition, Quang Ngai's PCI results in 2025 are not commensurate with the potential, advantages and development requirements of the province.
Currently, there are 10,776 enterprises legally existing in the province. Of which, micro-enterprises account for about 63%, small enterprises account for 32%, and medium and large enterprises account for about 4%. Most of the enterprises in the area are micro- and small enterprises; financial capacity, management and competitiveness are still limited.
To improve PCI in a substantive direction, Quang Ngai is developing a plan to improve and enhance PCI in the 2026-2030 period. The province also sets a goal to establish a hotline or channel to receive feedback from businesses, announce handling deadlines; promote administrative reform; increase publicity and transparency of information on land use planning, plans, auctions, bidding and business support policies.
