On 7.5.2025, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the head of the Government negotiation team on trade with the United States Nguyen Hong Dien had a meeting with Mr. Marc E. Knapper, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of the United States in Vietnam to promote the negotiation process to handle Vietnamese -American bilateral economic and trade issues in the current period.
At the beginning of the work, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed the viewpoint of attaching importance to cooperation between the two countries, asking the United States to promote a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development, for the development of each country and stability in the region, promoting Vietnam -US trade in a harmonious, sustainable and long -term direction.
Ensure that it does not violate international commitments to which Vietnam is a member, and does not affect relations with other partners. At the same time, it is in line with the direction and direction agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that the complementarity of the two economies of Vietnam and the US is an important feature that helps economic and trade cooperation between the two countries develop more and more strongly.
In the coming time, both sides need to support businesses in promptly removing difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for businesses in cooperation projects, as well as buying and selling essential products, supplementing each other's goods needs. Consider this a practical action to help promote economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries in a practical way, increasingly in-depth and effective. At the same time, it contributes to the goal of harmonious and sustainable trade balance.
For his part, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper highly appreciated Vietnam's proactive, benefactory and constructive moves, and explained that the new US trade policy was established with the aim of further promoting trade and investment, protecting economic security, national security and the US workers; not to harm partner countries. Despite many challenges ahead, the Ambassador believes that with high goodwill, the negotiation process between the two countries will achieve positive results, bringing benefits to the people and business community.
