Storm No. 3 and its aftermath swept through 26 northern provinces and cities and Thanh Hoa on September 7, uprooting many large trees at the Hanoi Textile and Garment Corporation - Dong Van Fiber Factory, leaving them scattered across the factory grounds. The storm also caused a power outage in the entire factory, causing production lines to stop operating.
However, up to now, the power outage at the factory has been resolved, many production lines can run production machines.
General Director of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group Cao Huu Hieu said that when the storm hit, the branch of Hanoi Textile and Garment Corporation - Dong Van Fiber Factory promptly fixed the problem to stabilize production.
At present, businesses need to calculate replanting uprooted trees, clearing garbage and unclogging sewers to prevent heavy rain after storm circulation, and ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic environment when workers return to normal production.
The garment factory of Dong Xuan Knitting Company Limited (Hung Yen province) also had many trees uprooted and part of the corrugated iron roof in the fabric warehouse area blown off after storm No. 3 swept through. Many factories lost power, so all production activities were temporarily suspended.
However, Mr. Cao Huu Hieu said that fortunately, the factory promptly moved the fabric warehouse to another location so the goods were not affected by the roof being blown off. Up to now, normal production has been resumed.
Dong Xuan Knitting Company Limited’s dyeing and weaving factory located in Pho Noi Industrial Park (Hung Yen) also lost power and stopped production after the storm. The factory is urgently mobilizing forces to overcome the consequences of fallen trees and return to normal production.
Up to this point, in the Nam Dinh area, Nam Dinh Textile and Garment Joint Stock Corporation, Nam Dinh Fiber Factory, Nam Dinh Garment, Nam Dinh Silk Weaving... have also returned to normal production, with no technical problems occurring after the storm.
In Thai Nguyen, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - owner of a forest products processing factory in Dai Tu district - has mobilized workers to return to work to deliver orders to customers on time. Although he has to pay for cleaning and repair costs, Mr. Tuan still feels luckier than those units that lost everything after the storm and flood.
Ms. Truong Kim Hoa - Owner of Hoa Vien farm of more than 60 hectares in Thach That (Hanoi) - informed that the rain has stopped, there is a bit of sunshine, the weather is favorable, in just about 15 - 30 days, many types of leafy vegetables will be supplied to the market.
"This storm, we were a little lucky because we were on high ground so we weren't flooded much. It was mainly because the storm knocked down the mosquito net house and ruined the vegetables. In low-lying areas like Chuong My, the flooding was so severe that all the vegetables were ruined. That's why the vegetable supply to Hanoi was affected and scarce," said Ms. Hoa.
