On January 25, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que requested investors of renewable energy projects (wind power, solar power, hydropower, biomass power...) in the area to urgently accelerate the implementation progress according to the plan and commitments.
In early 2026, a series of power projects in Gia Lai were implemented after considering factors of efficiency, suitability for planning, land use plan, environment and construction.
Projects being requested by Gia Lai province to accelerate progress include: Van Canh Wind Power Plant (Binh Dinh); Ia Boong - Chu Prong; Van Canh 1, Van Canh 2; Vinh Thanh Wind Power Plant.
Large-scale solar power projects include: Ia Ly (Gia Lai); Krong Pa 2 and Phu Thien solar power plants; Chu Ngoc, Trang Duc solar power plants; An Khe biomass power plant...

Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que requested Saigon - Bac Giang Industrial Park Joint Stock Company (investor of Van Canh wind power project) to actively coordinate with departments and functional agencies to complete the design dossier for appraisal; soon complete compensation procedures, site clearance and land procedures to move towards project commencement.
Van Canh 1 Wind Power Plant and Van Canh 2 Wind Power Plant are expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2026 and be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2028 in accordance with the approved investment policy.
With Resolution No. 254/2025/QH15 dated December 11, 2025 of the National Assembly on stipulating a number of mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles in organizing the implementation of the Land Law, provincial functional agencies will have detailed guidance to facilitate investors in compensation and support for site clearance to serve construction.
According to the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 (adjusted Power Plan VIII), the total capacity of renewable energy projects in Gia Lai province is expected to be about 9,657.1 MW.
In which, wind power has 74 projects with a total capacity of 5,431 MW; solar power has 24 projects with a total capacity of 1,530 MW; hydropower has 48 projects with a total capacity of 1,353 MW.
