On January 20, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested departments, functional agencies and People's Committees of communes in the area to accelerate procedures to change the purpose of forest use to implement the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project.
Accordingly, People's Committees of communes and wards: An Nhon Bac, An Nhon, Binh Hiep, Binh An, Binh Phu, Binh Khe, Cuu An, Ya Hoi, An Binh, Dak Po, Hra, Mang Yang, Lo Pang, K'Dang, Dak Doa, Ia Bang and Hoi Phu urgently prepare dossiers and procedures.
The preparation of dossiers is to determine the forest area that needs to be converted for land use purposes, location, current status of forest land... to serve site clearance and construction of the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway.
Currently, the component projects of the expressway have been approved for investment decisions by the Provincial People's Committee, and at the same time there is a plan to select contractors for construction.
Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway is designed with 4 lanes, 24.75 m wide roadbed, design speed of 100 km/h. However, when passing An Khe and Mang Yang passes, the maximum speed is only below 80 km/h.
The project is proposed in the form of public investment, with a preliminary total capital of more than 43,730 billion VND.
Also related to the conversion of forest area, at the 5th Session of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee submitted a proposal to the Provincial People's Council to decide on the policy of changing the purpose of forest use to other purposes to implement the Ia Thul reservoir project, Gia Lai province.
Specifically, the area of forest proposed for conversion of land use purpose is more than 166 hectares (including more than 15 hectares of protection forest and 151 hectares of production forest).
The project is invested by Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 7, deployed in Ia Rsai and Ia Tul communes, Gia Lai province.
According to the design, Ia Thul reservoir has a capacity of 83 million m3, supplying agricultural production water for 8,600 ha and domestic water for about 28,500 people. At the same time, the project contributes to improving the ecological environment, combined with flood reduction for the downstream area.
In 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh signed Decision No. 1400/QD-TTg approving the investment policy for the Ia Thul reservoir project, Gia Lai province. Expected implementation cost of more than 4,000 billion VND.
