In the last days of January, according to PV's records, the purchase price of live pigs in Lang Son ranged from 75,000 - 78,000 VND/kg, a sharp increase compared to the average of about 55,000 VND/kg in the first 11 months of 2025.
From the beginning of December 2025 to now, pork prices have continuously increased and are forecast to reach the 80,000 VND/kg mark in the near future.
According to the local agricultural sector, the recurrence of African swine fever in recent times has affected the restocking process, causing a shortage of supply.
Meanwhile, the demand for pork consumption increased sharply at the end of the year, but the output of pigs was not enough to meet the demand, pushing live pig prices up sharply. This price increase trend is also recorded in many localities across the country.
At the same time, the price of piglets in Lang Son increased by about 500,000 VND/head compared to December 2025, to 1.3 - 1.6 million VND/head (10 - 15kg/head).
Despite the high selling price, farmers are advised to be cautious when restocking due to the risk of African swine fever still existing.
