On the occasion of October 20 this year, Ms. Vu Thanh Thao's flower shop (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) imported flowers from Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City wholesale market a week ago.
According to Ms. Thao, due to the impact of thunderstorms, many gardeners suffered losses, so the supply was limited. To have enough flowers to supply the market on October 20, she had to order earlier than previous years, and the price of flowers also increased by 15-20% compared to normal days.
"Because I was afraid of unsold flowers like the last 8.3, this time I reduced the amount of flowers to 80%. However, 4-5 days ago, customers placed orders. Although the price is quite high, the number of customers is still large. The price ranges from 150,000 - 500,000 VND/bunch, some customers are willing to spend millions to buy flowers on this occasion," said Ms. Thao.
According to records at traditional markets in Can Tho City, retail flower prices have increased slightly. Roses cost from 10,000 - 30,000 VND/flower, sunflowers from 35,000 - 60,000 VND/flower, delphiniums cost from 25,000 - 55,000 VND/flower...
In the days before the October 20 holiday, the flower stall of Ms. Nguyen Bich Van (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) supplying flower shops in the city was much busier.
"Compared to last year, this year's purchasing power has increased by about 20%. Customers have contacted me to place orders, so in the past few days, my staff had to wake up at 3-4 am to import goods and prepare flowers, otherwise they wouldn't be able to package and deliver to customers in time," said Ms. Van.
Besides fresh flowers supplied for the October 20 holiday, handmade bouquets made from wool are also commonly sold in Can Tho.
"My shop has been receiving orders for wool flowers for this holiday season for a month now, and compared to last year, purchasing power has increased by 15%. Because handmade wool flowers are durable and come with accessories such as teddy bears and cosmetics, they are eye-catching and suitable as gifts. The selling price ranges from 150,000 to 2,000,000 VND, depending on the customer's order," said Ms. Pham Tuyet Huong (Soc Trang province).
