A survey by Lao Dong Newspaper on April 17 shows that on many routes, ticket prices have increased, but passengers can still find empty seats.
For example, the Hanoi to Phu Quoc route on April 25, the start of the holiday, the lowest Vietnam Airlines airfare is about 5.2 million VND per ticket; Vietjet Air is about 3.3 million VND; while newcomer Sun Phu Quoc Airways offers a price from 2.9 million VND for the same route, same day.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in the period from April 25 to May 3, 2026, the booking trend of passengers is distributed relatively evenly throughout the holiday.
Two holidays taking place close together, extending the rest time has helped passengers be more flexible in choosing schedules, avoiding concentrating on some peak days.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that on the first days of the holiday such as April 25, 26 and 29, 30, the booking rate on tourist routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to localities is still low, and the number of empty seats is still quite large.
Some special routes recorded a occupancy rate of over 90%, mainly concentrated on routes to Tuy Hoa, Con Dao, Chu Lai, Dong Hoi.
In the opposite direction, travel demand gradually increases at the end of the holiday when passengers return to major cities, especially Ho Chi Minh City.
However, the general level of bookings from localities to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is still not high. Only some routes such as Con Dao - Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Hoi - Hanoi reached over 80% of seats.
Notably, main routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi have low occupancy rates, averaging only about 20% to 40%. This shows that passengers still have many choices of flights and suitable time slots during this year's holiday.
Survey data shows that in the early period of the holiday (April 25 - 29, 2026), the price of economy class tickets for the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route ranged from about 3.6 to 4.2 million VND depending on the airline.
In which, air tickets of Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Airlines the highest level is about 3.9 to 4.2 million VND; Vietjet Air from 3.2 to 3.9 million VND; Vietravel Airlines about 3.3 to 3.8 million VND. This price level is equivalent to the Lunar New Year 2026 and slightly increased by about 8-10% compared to the same period in 2025.
On other routes, ticket prices also remain high. The Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route on April 29 has a price from 2.7 to 3.2 million VND for Vietnam Airlines, while Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways range from 1.8 to 2.6 million VND. The Hanoi - Da Nang route recorded a price from 2.6 to 3.8 million VND for Vietnam Airlines, the remaining airlines from 2.1 to 2.9 million VND.
In general, although airfares during this year's holidays are still high and slightly increased compared to last year, thanks to the demand being distributed evenly over time, the market is not overloaded. Passengers still have many opportunities to choose flights suitable for their travel plans.
